Adult Keywords on google now $10.00 a click wtf????
 

I used to advertise pretty heavily on google 2 years ago with keywords pertaining to interracial niche. In 2006 i was paying between 5 and 10 cents a click, until one day I logged into my admin and saw that my ads would no longer be displayed unless I raise the bids to $5.00 a click. Of course I could not advertise with them anymore at that rate.

Recently I type in a few keywords in google that I use and see about 15 interracial sites using adwords! Cool I think to myself time to go back to google, maybe they have lowered their bids. To my shock and horror they are now telling me that all 100 of my interracial related keywords must be set to 10.00 a click????? WHAT THE HELL GIVES??

Anyone else been shut out of the traffic loop with google, and forced to sit on the side feeling helpless and impotent while you watch other competing sites advertise, when you know for absolute fact that your competitors are not paying 10.00 a click for these words?

Would feel better if I was not the only one. Hate to think of it as some form of discrimination...

well, adwords is really not necessary for long time use... I still prefer to get the site optimized well... Ranking on top through natural optimization could really be worth it than pay that amount of money for adwords...

I think you got slapped by their Quality Score.
I don´t get those crazy prices in adwords.

You need to improve your QS and try again.

Nice links but whats the point with the MOD_REWRITE? just to add the keyword to the url? it can be done manually.

It is a quality score problem. I have a workaround, but I am not going to give it away for free. If your intrested I can post my ICQ number.

I think he is using MOD_REWRITE just so he can use example.com/keyword urls instead of example.com/index.php?q=keyword

I´m not really sure. My Apache skills are pretty non-existent, I just do it with PHP.

10 bucks a click is great, as long as you are converting at 1:2

And if your site is actually that optimized any ads by you wouldn't cost you $10 a click they be down in the 5¢-10¢ range. Maybe a bit higher but certainly nothing over $1.

if it makes you feel better even the organic traffic for interracial from google converts worth shit and isn't worth 10$ a click when you get it free. Unless you like going 0:6,000 on organic traffic for "interracial" "interracial porn" etc.

yeah the quality score is a bitch some times. I had one campaign 3-4 weeks into it all of a sudden go from great .05 minimum bids to $10.00 nothing on the site changed etc. Just the way adwords works I guess. pain in the ass

Well interracial could mean ANYTHING. Could be people looking for info on interracial marriage or interracial relationships.

when mixing up a comma and a point is also very profitable for google :)

adwords are harder and harder to work with (for me at least)

what i hate the most is when i set up a new campaign, it doesnt get declined and my ads still dont show (no TM''s, no other paysites with same url competing for the same keywords, no declined/disapproved ads/kewords, not even a message that I need to bid a higher amount to activate the keywords)
