Any lawn experts here?

My lawn is really fucking up my croquet game. Yea you heard me. I'm pro. I have 2 or 3 different kinds of grass. How do I fix this ? I already have it chemically treated so I don't think I have a weed issue. I think I have 80% kentucky bluegrass with some light green ugly grass here and there. The light green shit seems thicker too.

Also, there are a few bumps in my yard. I see those big rolling things you kill up with water and roll the yard flat but I always thought that the roller couldnt weigh more than the lawnmower so it was counter productive. Then some people say do it when its kinda wet.. hmm. What are your thoughts?

I live in a climate where the ground freezes every winter. If I didn't have the yard rolled it would make mowing it decently nearly impossible. They like to roll a day after a good rain.

Can't help on the first question. I have a lawn service that keeps thing looking like Augusta.

I think AfterShockMedia has a contact in the lawn business.

Some photos would help as well.

Your fucked if you want one kind of grass, unless the other grass you don't like is like crab grass or another that is susceptible to a herbicide where the other grass is not. The limps in the grass, are they natural or from gophers?

Sounds like you might just want to re sod or at least just rototill and level the whole thing. The grass will grow back without re sodding, but if you resod you can cover up everything with a better hybrid species that is less susceptible to diseases, pests, and drought.

I sodded with Floratam brand St. Augestine which is very resistant to chinch bugs and they make a special weed and feed just for it that pretty much kills all broad leaf weeds plus most unwanted grass weeds without damaging the Floratam.

If you want to fix what you have do this:
Aerate twice a year and do a top dressing in the Spring (earth & seed). When top dressing make sure to spread out the earth evenly and no more than 1/2" thick. Then spread your seed and then take a leaf rake and use it upside down to rake in the seed. Water it constantly but do not saturate...no puddles. Just keep it humid and moist all the time for about 2 weeks.

Starting new:
If you want low grass like a putting green get yourself some Bent Grass. If not, get yourself some 100% Kentucky Blue.
