Wow. Atlanta is #1 ??? Can't believe Chicago isn't on that list.

Arg stupid slideshows. I just want to read the article, not watch a presentation.

I grew up in #3 Miami (19 yrs), Lived in #4 Orlando (8 yrs), and currently reside in #6 Tampa (7 yrs).

I live in LA. I used to live in Tampa. I disagree that Tampa's traffic is worse than LA's.

Wow, how can St. Louis not be on that list? That place suuuucks to drive in. I'd much rather drive in Dallas.

No. 1: Atlanta, Ga.

Here, in the fastest-growing city in America, more people flood the roadways than the infrastructure can handle. Commuters spend 60 hours a year stuck in traffic, second only to those in Los Angeles. If that weren't bad enough, Atlanta is so spread out that only 29% of drivers get to and from work in less than 20 minutes, the third worst rate in the country, and 13% spend more than an hour getting to work, the fourth worst rate in the country. The local train system doesn't service the entire city, and thus fails to relieve the pressure.


Take away the traffic problems and Atlanta to me is still one of the Top 3 metro areas in the country to live in, work in and raise a family. :thumbsup

I've lived in #3 and #4. dunno about their methodology. Miami traffic is horrid compared to orlando and worse than Atlanta IMO. Although Atlanta's does suck ass.

I havent been to LA but Tampa has 1 main interstate that runs all the way through. It comes to a halt everyday as they move north out of Tampa. Brutal to say the least. Thats why I like it being a webmaster. Fuck having to deal with rush hour traffic. :)

LA must be getting better or relatively better, I think we were in the top 5 a couple years back.

Side note: why the fuck would they make that article into a slide show. Pictures of traffic yeah I get it.

I lived in Atlanta for 6 months and didn't think the traffic was that bad.

I didn't have to commute though.

I've driven quite a bit in chicago, tampa, detroit and atlanta. Orlando is easy and chicago flows quite nicely thanks to the toll roads and "loop" Detroit is simply a disaster.... Atlanta is really bad too. Overall I think Atlanta drivers are the dumbest of all the cities I've driven in. It is classic inbreeding heaven. I got a ticket last year for doing 85 shooting through atlanta which is a 55 speed limit. I was being passed by half the traffic and the cop was the most redkneck hillbilly motherfucker I've every seen. With Michigan plates on the car he actually asked "whats in the cooler" when asked what brings me to atlanta I responded Florida....

I grew up in NY and now live in Detroit (near it actually not in it) now and traffic in NY was way worse.

Wait it makes sense now its not worst traffic its worst for commuters. NY has one of the best commuter train systems that carry a huge % of workers so it is not included as there are lots of ways besides cars to get to work.

i've lived in Long Island my entire life and i have no idea how MYC didnt make that list. it takes me an average of an hour and a half to drive 20 miles to NYC 1 way.

Someone told me Toronto has the worst in North America. I don't commute but it is true that the highways are pretty much gridlock all day, and there's no shortcuts in the city that help any.
