Domaintransfer from Godaddy 2 Namecheap?!

Iam currently transfering a domain from godaddy to namecheap and would like to hear how long it has taken for you, if you have done the same in the past.
Entered the authcode, approved all email but its still in progress.. any time range?

sicone 04-29-2008 12:58 AM

Once you acknowledge and approve the transfer... 48 to 72 hrs in the past for me

What are you guys talking about?

It takes 5 days, from the time you get the confirmation from Godaddy and it explains in the email that its going to take 5 days.

Yep I transfered around 10 domains out of Godaddy to Namecheap and it took approx 5 days. I must say there was a stuff up with 2 of the transfers and they took around 2 weeks to done :Oh crap

But Namecheap kept me up to date all the time about it :)

I just transfered some within the last 2 weeks, and it took longer than normal. This time was about 8 days, as opposed to 6 the other times. (have been transferring everything in chunks over the last few months)

Corleone 04-29-2008 05:21 AM

took 7 days for me..

dready 04-29-2008 06:29 AM

Give it up to a week.

bumping a couple month old thread, but wanted to ask if you are all happy you made the move, and if you moved all of your domains, or if you still use godaddy for some?

u-Bob 07-03-2008 03:35 AM

transferring domains away from godaddy: 2 days. (if you confirm the transfer in their control panel)

what really surprised me about dealing with godaddy is their lack of effort in retention... I was expecting that they would be more customer service oriented similar to cell phone companies, where if a customer has a legitimate issue and threatens to pull their portfolio that they would make an effort to keep the customer, but it seems like they don't even try.... they sure run themselves like they are a giant over-bureaucratic corporation for some reason, even though they shouldn't be :2 cents:

I've done it a couple of times, and it took me about a week.

buyandsell 07-03-2008 10:16 AM

up to a week
you have to make sure the domains are outside 3 months or renewal on godaddy or some bollocks or they lock them down

ideaworx 07-03-2008 10:20 AM

yep, usually quick for me too, just did one 2 days ago, and completed 100% in 78hrs i believe
