I've learned a valuable lesson about boiling eggs
That is, never walk away from one -- or three -- while you are trying to get work done.
I put the last 3 eggs in pot and left them on the stove while I answered a client call. I had to do some annoying After Effects work for about a half hour while my breakfast was going to hell. I heard one pop, but I thought it was the dog fucking around. Then it went boom and I rushed upstairs from my den to find egg chunks all over the kitchen. Luckily I have a Chocolate Labrador Disposal unit, and he went to work on the floor. I spent 30 minutes picking pieces from the ceiling and walls, and I'm sure I'll be finding chunks for the next year. Always stay with your boiling eggs if you get easily distracted like me. |
Ha. I almost did the same thing. Got the burning smell and everything.
|
I always leave ramen soup boiling waaaay too long, and I will go to nuke a cup of water for tea and then leave it in the microwave beeping at me for 2 hours.
|
Just put them in the microwave next time. The microwave will contain the explosion, and you'll have less to clean up.. ;)
|
I prefer my liquid chickens scrambled, not exploded :P
|
ADD, you got it.

I once left a pizza in the oven... got reminded by some heavy smoke... :(

we blew a dozen up once in a microwave ..aggg what a mess
|
I came home one night shit-faced drunk and decided that I wanted some boiled eggs. I throw about a half dozen onto the stove and ended up passing out on the couch. I woke up to thinking the house was burning down. The water had evaporated and there were 6 burnt to the crisp eggs still frying away. Only a couple burst but it took forever to get the smell out of my house.
I also was a genius and thought I could get a quick meal by sticking an egg (whole) into the microwave. It only made sense that it would cook it faster, right? Wrong! That shit blew up all over my microwave and a couple pieces of egg shrapnel hit me and gave me some pretty serious burns. Eggs are dangerous, mkay. |
Lol, that was funny..
|
Glad to know I am not the only one that has done this when boiling eggs!
|
:1orglaugh ahahaha never done that yet...
|
I do this all the time. I have to actually stand there in the kitchen and watch them, otherwise I'll leave and start working and have that nasty burnt egg smell all over the place.

How to make the perfect boiled egg:
1) Boil water 2) Place egg in pot of boiling water 3) Turn off heat source for water 4) Cover pot containing egg 5) Remove egg from pot in 10 minutes This way you'll have perfect eggs and never have to worry about them exploding. However, you may still boil your pot dry, if your memory is as short as my dick. |
How hard is it to cover eggs with an inch of cold water, bring to a boil and then turn stove off and leave it be? (vinegar optional)
You all forgetting in those first few minutes? |
