are getting annoying. My best friend is a cop. If I had a choice between having a party and getting a houseful of off-duty cops or getting a houseful of gangsters, I'll take the cops every time. We're not gangsters, we're not convicts, we're not thugs (most of us). We're computer nerds, but I think some of us have been listening to too much Fitty.

Yes there are bad cops.. there are bad everything, but for the most part cops are normal family guys who work hard, take huge risks for low pay and put up with more shit from more drunken idiot losers than I would even want to contemplate. I've helped train cops in non-lethal restraint methods, and they are pretty much just humble guys, willing to take the pain to learn how to do their job better and more humanely, and genuinely trying to do some good in this fucked up world.

If most of you ever had an encounter with an honest to goodness prison bound degenerate gangsta killer, you would be calling cops to save your ass without a moment's hesitation and thanking god when they showed up to bail you out.

Most, yes. Most are like you say, you're definitely not wrong on that. However, it's the ones who have become jaded, who are on a power trip, who think that being a cop automatically makes them tough, who will crap all over someone's rights just because they can... it's those ones who ruin the overall reputation for the rest.

But yeah, rating down and disrespecting all cops because of a few isn't something I'm in support of.

Yea, cops put up with a lot of dumb shit from simple people with juvenile mentalities.

What people should 'hate' are the dumbass laws that police officers are forced to uphold.

I have nothing against cops. I have a lot of respect for good cops. What I don't like is the mentality that everyone has to fear cops, that cops should be free to dole out whatever punishments they feel fit despite the due process of the legal system.

I don't think fear is the correct word... 'respect' is more like it. If you don't respect the man, respect the position.
