Its for my mainstream business, we are wholesalers and launching retail end.

Rip the site apart and tell me what works for you and what doesnt before i go live with it.

looks good but the color scheme is alittle loud

Brown Bear 10-13-2002 04:50 PM

The 1 in the 123 logo doesn't look like a 1 it looks like an L

jizz mopper 10-13-2002 04:55 PM

I agree...colors are a bit too bold. Less is more
Amazon or barnes and nobles dont have a lot of colors on their sites: http://www.amazon.com
http://www.bn.com/
Maybe just copy their basic color schemes

I dont like the rounded fonts and the logo looks like L23 Computer books.

Maybe put the search and mailing list boxes higher up on the columns.

My eyes.. my poor, poor eyes. Seriosuly, I can't look at that for very long because it hurts my eyes. It all conflicts, it's so loud and bright, gotta fix up that design. You've got yellow, red, green, blue, white and black in parts of that page - it doesn't work. And like was said, the 1 looks like an L.

Avoid image maps, many problems could arise with them.

Contact page has a bug. You forgot the mailto: part of the URL in the href param.

The alignment of text is quite off and distracting on some of the pages. For example on the home page, the top text left aligned looks strange - that and it wraps and has the "---" on either side. Why bother putting a --- when it already has its own HUGE header and is in bright red? Also down the bottom, the font size is massive, don't do that. And lay of the excalamation marks.

All in all, I wouldn't even consider in a million years putting my details in there and purchasing from that site. The site looks WAY too amateur. Lacks any professional image at all - which is what users look for when purchasing from sites.

I'd strongly consider paying for a professional design for the site, and looking more thoroughly for bugs before releasing this to the public or in my opinion, it won't succeed.

Does this mean there will be hookers & 40's?

GTS Mark 10-13-2002 06:06 PM

I would never buy from it and only an idiot would. Sorry but the design is horrible. Get a designer. Really!

ZoiNk 10-13-2002 06:41 PM

1) Bad colour scheme
2) Overcompressed Images on the Front Page. I don't want to have to try to read blurry titles
3) Isn't setup at all nicely for a 800x600 res.
4) Put your Browse into a Pull down Menu
5) On the main part, do Categories like Programming, Networking, Operating Systems, then have sub categories off of that.
6) Asp... EWWWWWWWWWWwwwwwwwwwwww
7) Redo your images. I would be SCARED using my credit card on that site. I would expect a 13 year old to be getting it emailed to him.
8) Bigger is not always better, sooooo much big text. Sometimes a Font size = -1 has a lot more impact!

Boy some rude people here lol I like it mate think it will do good there could be a fewthings you could do a little different but over all it looks good. ALso do you have it able to fit 800/600

Dragon Curve 10-13-2002 07:47 PM

va2k.. if you think that looks good you need to get your eyes checked. And if your mate things it's gonna do well as it is, he shouldn't go into business.

Oh and btw, to whoever said it, what's so wrong with ASP? =) ASP.NET is beautiful, a dream, heaven. ASP is still fine though.

Content is King. In this case being Titles and Prices. Everything else is secondary.
