What % of Germans speaks good English and trust adult sites in English? I'm just surprised recently when someone told me that only 20% of German customers speaks English enough to understand and trust English speaking adult sites and only 50% of German webmasters will promote international programs. Is any true in those claims?

Iam born in germany but never lived there for more then a couple of month every year. I dont promote any german programm and dont care for the german porn market at all. The content and promo stuff is incredible oldschool on every programm i know off.
On the other hand i dont know any german who is beating off or watching german porn at all.
I think the german amateur market is still booming, but with the lack of good and reliable sponsors, its just a pitty.
When you read a german webmaster forum from time to time you will realise pretty quickly how far behind the times they are...
Most german webmasters i know, are making the big bucks with mainstream stuff like i did before i started out in adult.

From a surfers point of view you are missing out as a programmer owner if you dont support phone billing for german customers. Rarely anyone uses his credit card in the internet these days because of lots of scams, which are covered DAILY on tv, radio stations and news papers.
I still think geo-targetted websites with various billing options (phone,cc,check) can pull a lot of extra sales then the classic english website with a cc sign up option.. but hey thats just me.. and iam nobody! :winkwink:

Europeans in general don't like CC billing.. Nowadays, more and more people (mostly men :1orglaugh) are using their cc online, I'd say 25%, but all other people use:
- phone billing
- bank wire (for bigger transactions)

More Euros speak English than the Americans speak any other language.

I grew up in Germany, English is taught usually starting in 5th grade. Technically all Germans who attended school anytime in the past twenty-some years should speak and comprehend quite well.
In reality it's probably closer to 50%. The rest either kept changing what foreign language classes they took in school, or fell "through the cracks".

For some reason certain areas tend to have more proficient English speakers than others, for example I noticed a lot of peeps from Berlin speak incredibly well.

German customers are pretty fussy and cautious about picking adult sites. So popups for example can refrain a German customer from joining your site. There is a large amount of German customers over the age of 40. They do not search for the average adult site but prefer niches such as SM and easy to navigate sites. And those are solvent customers.

It´s a baseless rumour that german customers do not use credit cards and stick to phone billing and other types of payment. Numbers for last month are 20% online check processing, 70% credit card and 10% phone billing. Numbers vary a bit each month, but nothing significant. So it is not true that German customers prefer phone billing. It´s just the opposite. Phone billing got pretty unpopular related to dialer abuse. So if a program redirects German customers to phone billing only sites, this may prevent them from joining the site.

Regarding German webmasters, they have legal problems to promote international sites because of the mandatory adult verification for German customers which is not provided for almost every international working program. I can´t provide any verified numbers here, so 50% is just a guess.

Unlike in neighbouring France, the Germans regard English as cool - I once remember seeing several TV ads there front to back and all their straplines were in English lol

The question is probably how many of your potential customers are comfortable with English.

The rate among students might be way higher than 50%, but 99% of them just pirate.

Older people might be more willing to pay, be less comfortable with English.

Stay away from auto-translation, it looks to unprofessional.
