Man Tries To Purchase TV For $3.16, Gets Arrested
dumb ass
A Kirksville, Missouri man is facing charges of attempted stealing by deceit after he tried to buy a LCD television, valued at $517, for only $3.16 at a local Wal-Mart. 44-year old Reginald Newman had switched the UPC tags between a 26-inch Viore TV, listed at $517, and a $3.16 bottle of water. He then tried to buy the TV using the water's UPC tags claiming the TV's $3.16 price tag was correct. Currently in custody at a detention center on a $10,000 cash bond, Newman faces a fine of up to $5000, seven years in prison, or any combination of fines and prison. What a fucking retard. Even the dumbest wal-mart employee wouldn't think a TV costs $3. Not to mention this retard has no clue as to how UPC codes work.

what a fucking moron.
|
Dumb, yes...but 7 years? It's not even a grand crime.

Dude, switching UPC codes works all the time. But you'd have to be a fucking moron to try it on something like a TV, and with that much of a price difference. Ha, ha.
|
lol.... how stupid can people be?
|
so the one con says to the other "what are you in for?"
reply "I am dumber than a WalMart employee" |

You are stupid. The UPC code will tell right on the register screen what the product is. Go get something in your house with a UPC code on it and try this http://www.upcdatabase.com/itemform.asp |
Wow. That's enterprising, but only... 40 years too late. I guess he thought he was at Burger King and used to the customer suppot being pushovers: "Your way, right away."

I had an ex withdraw $500 bucks from my bank account once during a fight without my permission. Wonder what they would get for that? Nah, it's not like I even care anymore, its over no big deal... 7 years for that? thats just insane. |

Trust me. It works. When I was a kid I knew people that would do it all the time, based on the assumption that most employees don't bother looking at every item they scan and comparing it to the register screen. Watch employees scan stuff next time you're out. Most of them look like mind-numbed robots. They just scan something, bag it, scan the next item, bag it, and so on. You just have to find the most zoned-out employee. My friends use to do this back in the day and never got caught. Granted, they mainly did little things. Like changing the price of a CD from $19.95 to $12.95 or something. For the record, I never did it 'cause I'm not a fucking thief. My parents would have kicked my ass if they ever caught me doing something like that. Plus I was raised with "morals and values." Even though I somehow ended up shooting porn for a living. Ha. Two months ago when I was at the hardware store joking around with some of the employees there, I took the UPC off of cheaper item and put it on another, more expensive item. I was like, "I'll just be on my way to go pay for this now." The emloyees laughed and told me, "You know, the funny thing is, the cashiers wouldn't even notice." People just go to work and do their job, man. After you scan shit day in and day out for ages, you stop caring so much and don't notice small stuff like that. But a TV? Especially one for a little over three bucks? Come on. That's just retarded. :1orglaugh |

Had he taken the code from, say, a $300.00 TV and used that instead, he might have gotten away with it. Most employees who actually did take the time to look would see their screen just said something about a TV and called it good.
|
7 years (potential) is a bit heavy. people get away with less than that for murder in this country

fuck walmart every way you can ;) just don't do that shit at a smaller store... walmart is scum though.....
|
I have heard of people doing it all the time, even with TV's, all they do is replace for a cheaper tv ideally the same brand. Also that thing that shows the product for the barcodes. All stores enter their own description for tills over here and most of the abreviate, look at your receipts and the description on there is generally what comes up.
On a more important note though. How much for water? I would have replaced the code on that :) |

walmart employees dont pay attention to what they are scanning, they are too busy checking the text messages on their cell phones |
