Just got the mail and my bank statement was not in an envelope - wtf!!!
 

This is a little disturbing to say the least. My bank statement was sitting in my mailbox between my pile of mail, envelope free.

Its faily obvious somebody opened my shit to look at my monies. I am currently on hold with my bank but i'm guessing they are going to want to close my account?

they put it down in their notes and said to watch it over the weekend. If I see anything unusual to call them and it will get turned over to fraud and said I would not be out any money if someone does try and rip me off. I think the girl who handled my call was lazy. I am going to go in and talk to someone at my local branch right now. Btw, this is US Bank.

That's a federal crime. Call your local Post Office Inspector and let them know to begin investigation; then, get a new checking account. By filing it as so, it's federal time if they catch who did it.

they may freeze your funds until the new account is established... each bank has their own process of how they handle this... CHASE SUCKS!!! had something similar and they locked my account for 5 biz days even if i went to branch with 20 forms of ID... could not get to my own money....

i would seriously check your credit report in 4 weeks, make sure that no accounts were opened in your name... you would be surprised the amount of info this person has now if your statement was taken by someone with such intent....

Something's fishy, I think the postman's got something to do with this.

Damn why take the statement and leave the envelope? Seems like that would take more time, increase chance of being caught, and alert you to the situation.

Wondering if it was a machine sorting fuck up. I have had mail that looked like someone cut the tops off it and then once piece had the top removed and the contents mostly ripped out. Asked mail lady next day and she said occassionaly the machines just fuck your shit up and she does not even notice until she grabs the stacks for our street.

Ask the postman.. maybe he had to wipe his ass with the envelope, emergency like.

Probably the mailman had an emergency wipe situation and spared you a shit covered letter.
