CEBU CITY, Philippines - The identity of the one who uploaded an amateur video of the Black Suede operation that spread on the Internet is being tracked down.
A lawyer of Dr. Phillips Leo Arias, the chief surgeon in the operation, yesterday said the party was a male nursing intern from a Cebu school.
The student was not part of the medical team, said lawyer Merlo Bagano but had just walked over from another operating table to view the unusual procedure.
The lawyer said the nursing intern, whom he did not name, was not able to graduate because of what he did.
The task of establishing authorship of the controversial video may need expert help, however. YouTube users are not required to post their real names, and commonly use code names.
Three doctors and two nurses face an administrative investigation for possible misconduct after the video of the operation, which involved the extraction of a can of Black Suede body spray left in the rectum of a male patient, showed hospital personnel laughing, cheering and taking photos of the surgery with their cellphones.
