Just spent a month in Europe...my thoughts
Went over with my band, played 24 shows in about 28 days, from Valencia, Spain all the way up to Oslo, Norway, had a fucking blast.
Comparing the USA to Europe in several random thoughts: Portions are much smaller in Europe, for everything. No big gulps, tiny cups of coffee, even at fast food places (a supersized meal at a mcd's gives you a medium sized drink and a medium fry)...Most of the cars are tiny, some you could probably pick up with 2 people and a little effort. People drive like real pussies most places. Redbull was banned in all of Scandanavia. Gas is absurdly fucking expensive everywhere (about $7 to $8 gallon equivalent)...Holland/Netherlands is the most liberal and chilled out place on the planet, and Dutch people are fucking cool. Actually, most European people are pretty fucking cool, even the French...but German cops in Bavaria are NAZIS, our driver had to take a roadside piss test and after testing positive for THC from a week earlier, went to jail and had to pay 450 euros to get out. Actually got a pretty weird vibe from most Germans, I think they're still sore about us pummeling them in 2 wars. Cigarrettes are too fucking expensive except in Spain...Spain is the California of Europe, people there party their asses off, it's warm and everybody smokes hash. Hard drugs in Europe are complete shit, but the hash rules. People take beer VERY seriously, and everybody drinks. Scandanavian women are fucking incredible, so are french girls, dutch girls and spanish girls....belgian chicks and german chicks are a little too rugged, at least the ones we saw. There are no billboards anywhere...cops pull you over from the front...there is shitty graffitti in every nook and cranny of concrete, even the most remote farmhouses. Very little traffic except for Paris (the worst I've ever seen)...very safe vibe across the board (not really in Paris though)....After living in a dangerous fucking city (ATL) my whole life, it's nice to go somewhere and not have to be constantly looking over your shoulder worried about sketchy crackhead fucks. Parking is a fucking nightmare, everywhere....tons of people ride bikes, and most cities have big bike lanes. Very few black people. People mind their own fucking business and are honestly nicer and a lot more civilized than your average american. Lots of cow and pig shit smells in the countryside. And most every country was COLD. Never realized how much further north most of Europe is than the USA. |
sounds like a pretty fair review to me ;)
been living here in europe for two years now. |
p.s. what band are you in? did you play in austria?
|
Nah, Red Bull isn't banned here in Sweden. Neither is having sex with animals, and that's a shame :(:(
|
Red Bull is illegal here in Denmark and Norway.
And I agree with most of the points you make :) |
Netherlands is fantastic. Had a Stag weekend in Amsterdam..the best weekend ever!

What really sucks in Paris is the stop lights, damn, they so shitty that I couldn't see shit when it was sunny outside. Otherwise Paris is the coolest place. |
Girls in Scandinavia are by far the most naturally beautiful I have ever witnessed.

Give me a break on the Dutch, those crazy mofo's dont deserve that much credit ;)
|
That's actually a good review.
You're right about Paris, a friend of mine went there recently to see the city to be probably most famous for its historical monuments in Europe. Well most of the time he had to watch out for every other jungle bunny trying to pick on him and eventually even got robbed... social integration doesn't always work does it. The beer thing is why am I in US eyes a terrible party animal, but it's just a part of beeing normal around here. |
Hey buddy, you just glanced over the pussy part. I thought you was perv. What gives?
More details please, and pictures. |
Sounds like a great trip man! Glad to hear the band is kicking ass..

.. There was a guy who borrowed a car from his stoner brother and they found a spliff under the car rug while searched in Poland, he spent two nights in jail and was fined like 1000 USD. Good for him they haven't crucified him. |

hehe... nice read! Oslo is the ugliest city in norway though. Let me know the next time you play in Norway. I know most of the rock places here in Bergen, and might help you fix a gig! :)
What is the name of the band? |
Sounds like a good review to me, except this one about Holland
"and chilled out place on the planet" |
