the Adult Labeling Rule? Topbucks & FTC
So this Topbucks injunction.... what the hell is the Adult Labeling Rule? The government is throwing this at us now? We have to sign something and agree to the "Adult Labeling Rule" when we don't know what the hell it is??
can anyone break down the "Adult Labeling Rule?" per US gov standards. It sounds like some kind of trap. I know I am paranoid, but come on. :1orglaugh One cannot follow rules when they do not understand what they are. I must have missed a bulletin or something. |
damn... I forgot to put tits in the title for views
|
Also, as a non-US webmaster, do I have to sign this??
|
the Adult Labeling Rule requires that senders use the phrase "SEXUALLY EXPLICIT: " in the subject line of sexually explicit e-mail messages and ensure that the initially viewable area of the message does not contain graphic sexual images.

why dont TB deal with the spammers instead of lumping all of us affiliates in with the bad apples and making us jump through hoops? The reason we dont know what the "adult labeling rule" is, is because I do NOT keep up with laws and regs regardings SPAM, why should I? Ive never emailed a database in my life, including my FORUM! If companies didnt secretly allow spammers i doubt this shit would even be going on... |

This is a fact and a reality that very few refuse to accept due to their bull-headed ignorance.. or they dont know how to legally make money from legal mass email:2 cents: |
trying to enforce rules on mailing is beyond retarded. its like telling a bugler that he cant break a window to enter your house.
Fletch, sponsors are NEVER going to STOP accepting spam and mailers traffic. basically because we bring the best traffic and sales almost instantly (and in volume. A good mailer can bring 100+ sales in a 1 day where as a lame TGPer or Tube site webmaster might only do 20/day at best. In public every sponsor is "no we dont accept spam" but sure as fuck if you contact them on ICQ they will say "sure send us some traffic!". the adult industry is quite two-faced. CAN-SPAM Act and the US trying to enforce rules on spam/mailing is a joke and no one complies with it. The US enforcing laws on spamming only forces spammers to move their operations overseas which takes little to zero time and $ to achieve. spam is never going to go away :). the filters/websites evolve and the spam game evolves along with it. |

TopBucks does not allow our sites to be promoted via E-mail and we have not for a couple of years. CAN-SPAM and the Adult Labeling rule are both related to mass e-mail. If you don't use mass e-mail to promote TopBucks sites (which we are unaware of anyone using email) this should be a non-issue. If you'd like, here's info on the adult labeling rule: http://www.ftc.gov/os/2004/04/040413...lfinalrule.pdf. ~Alli |
How do I delete my account? I've never used it and never plan to, and I don't want to sign some BS. Rather just sever ties and not have my name on some list in the governments database.
