I drove by my gas station last night, and stopped in for a bag of pretzels and bought NO GAS cuz I have a fuel efficient car. Came home and flicked on my 100% flourescent bulbs and felt pretty good. I guess once you use the good stuff, it's just another regular day.
Here's a fun fact. Did you know that in NY state, with rebates and tax breaks the government will pay for 45% of a home solar array? Go to http://www.dsireusa.org/ to find all federal and state programs for your state if you're in the U.S. Even if your state doesnt help much, it's still free energy and the panels will last longer than you will.
I just recently replaced all of my lightbulbs with the CFL bulbs.

I do a lot of night walking to the store and to run close errands.

That's great to hear and I wish more States would follow that example.
In Arizona there's close to zero incentive to install solar panels - and Phoenix is like the capital of the sun, isn't it?
You'd think most homes and business would be outfitted with solar technology here in the "desert"...
what a perfect day to go home after getting out of the office and laying some fertilizer on the lawn along side some seeds. Also gonna plant some flowers in the garden.. what a beautiful perfect day.

Yep, thats exactly how it is though. Where I live in NY, we get 15% to 50% sunshine all year long. Far below national average. In Phoenix, AZ, you get rarely below 80% sunshine, far above the national average. So my state kicks in a lot to help compensate for the length of time it'll take for the system to pay for itself. Thats generally how the various rebates and incentives work.
In either case, it's an investment that never loses you money. Very few things can claim that. Each of us would "break even" at about the same time in theory.
I found it on Redflagdeals.com. I just went and got mine. I guess the point was for people to know before they go. Advertising it in store might just get people to run back to the car and grab a cup...lol...Here is the link
