Designers Question

i've been looking at some of the design portfolios of people who come to GFY. I'm seeing a fair amount of designs using [iframe]'s. What happens in Netscape with these designs? Fall apart? Or is there a script that will put a gif or jpeg or straight HTML where the [iframe] should be?

Are most designers just saying fuck it when it comes to Netscape these days?

i typed iframe twice and it rendered iframes : )

so i edited it to square brackets.

Most everything I do is multi-browser compatible, but if I happen to use something that doesn't work in Netscape,.... fuck it. Not even gonna worry about it. Besides.... I-frames work in the current versions of Netscrape anyway... only the old shit won't display an I-frame.

Check out the smooth combination of I-frame, javascript, layering, and dhtml on my site.... all done on ONE page. No conflicts. :glugglug

this is true. i don't use iframes but i think i will start.

you did the RealitySites site right? Very sharp, lots of iframes in it.
I just went to somebody else's site and saw more iframes so that's what made me ask the question.

do you put your stuff together using Dreamweaver or just a text editor?

Yep..... very unique site for me.... a nested I-frame site shell. Somewhat complex in construction, but infinitely expansable. A work of art really.... :glugglug

I use a variety of different tools for site construction. Dreamweaver is one of them. But by no means do I work only with one tool. :winkwink:

nice site. i like scollers. i'm just working on something tonight with scrollers like yours.

Mutt 10-12-2002 10:40 PM

that site is pretty complex, that's why i spent about 15 minutes poking around it seeing what you were up to.

how many days was that to pull off?

do you have other guys or are you a one man shop?

I use iframes for my webmaster design site too. I only build compatible designs for surfer sites. I agree with Amp. Fuck netscape. I used to make some immackulate code until I spent more time perfecting the code for file size and compatibility. Truth is, it does'nt pay anymore. just my :2 cents:
