do page peels convert?

i find it hard to beleive

SkeetSkeet 04-21-2008 05:24 PM

we have them on a few of our freesites/blogs etc and I know they convert as they send steady sales for us

we have them too www.starlightbucks.com

d-null 04-21-2008 05:34 PM

I haven't tried them yet but I would bet that they would generate more clicks due to the novelty at least.

Shey 04-21-2008 05:44 PM

We see more targeted clicks with them for our advertisers.

c0ld 04-21-2008 05:45 PM

Sure they do.. and they don't irritate people (maybe a small percentage of linux users) so it's always a nice and extra income.

If you're looking for dutch/belgian page peel ads, just hit me up, I can handle all your be/nl traffic! ;).

Some Guy 04-21-2008 05:54 PM

Where the hell do you even get one of those peel ads? They're way cool and I'd love to have one on a couple of my sites. I just don't know where to get 'em or how to install 'em. :(

fuhkinglou 04-21-2008 05:57 PM

most of the ad brokers have them. Like blacklabelads. Fling has them, I think AFF has them, too.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

:thumbsup

I have no doubt they work. Hell, first time I ever saw one, I was fascinated by it. I'm sure most surfers have that same reaction. They're just... neat. And non-intrusive.

Jai 04-21-2008 06:43 PM

yea but is it worth slowing down your site and affecting ur seo

Ditosta 04-21-2008 06:53 PM

We have em and they convert great! Very easy to have on anyones site..enter 1 simple line of code into your site!

i haven`t noticed them affect any of my positions, and i have noticed a good increase in sales since i added them. i link them straight to the join page. they certainly are very clickable.....

Some Guy 04-21-2008 07:11 PM

HugeTraffic has some kickass one's for Fling.com :thumbsup

markz08 04-21-2008 08:22 PM

yeap, i think it converts but since many sites are adding peel pages, users might not bite that anymore. great things happen when there's something new in your page.

amateurcanada 04-21-2008 09:11 PM

We have some good converting ones hosted by us. The conversions of views to sales can be 25000 and up. This is a small tool to increase your overall sales. Sorry boys to be realistic ;)

st0ned 04-21-2008 10:04 PM

I haven't had much luck with them.

Vendzilla 04-21-2008 10:09 PM

they have been converting great for me on playboy sites, we have hosted page peels now, here's a small tgp I have running them
http://jennastgp.com

Anyone can install it, one line of code right before the closing body tag

Agent 488 04-21-2008 10:12 PM

god allmighty worst net marketing trend ever ....

digifan 04-21-2008 10:23 PM

They have free versions so you can make your ads myself if you want to and here's a wp plugin, also free:
http://www.wp-plugins-db.org/plugin/pageear/
or another free one

You can get publisher account at www.madisonavenue.com. One of the 5 ad types we support is Page Peel. You can run anything you want (legal, heh) as we're primarily an ad rotation solution. Blog post with details on Page Peel here: http://blog.madisonavenue.com/2008/0...g-pagepeel-ad/. Best of all, with our system you can rotate them so you could run 100 of them in rotation and use our RPM optimization to figure out which ones make you the most money.

Did I mention it's totally free? Heh. Oh, and we're not adbrite or other ad networks where you HAVE to use us to sell ad inventory for you. Optional. You can just use us for the kick-ass, free, hosted, ad rotation solution that we are :))

Some Guy 04-21-2008 11:52 PM

Thanks to those who recommended some good page peels. Have one up on two of my sites now.

I think there's still some life left in page peels. I haven't seen them on too many sites yet. But then, I don't browse adult sites. Still, I haven't seen them on too many sites so I'm hoping my surfers won't have seen too many of them, either. Once they start popping up on too many sites I'll take mine down. Just wanted to try something new for now.

:)

DWB 04-21-2008 11:56 PM

They work OK I guess unless the viewer has flash turned off.

fuzebox 04-21-2008 11:58 PM

I'm not a big fan of them personally. Maybe they'll win me over in the coming year, but I'm too much of a purist to put them on my sites.

Ron Bennett 04-22-2008 01:34 AM

I never noticed page peels before because I have active-x / flash disabled by default.

With that said, I just view the http://jennastgp.com/ peel - pretty cool.

Question though - is there any way to have an image, etc on the backside of the peel? ... or are all peels blank on the back?

Ron

The one I'm using is a reflection of whatever image I decide throw in there.

www.thedailyanthill.com

Works pretty well.

Some Guy 04-22-2008 02:31 AM

And the back of Jenna's is the same for me. A reflection of the image used. It's just blank for you? That's odd.

Vendzilla 04-22-2008 07:36 AM

It's a reflection, maybe your not seeing it, hmmm

Agent 488 04-22-2008 08:18 AM

when i go to sites that have them i am only with great difficulty able to get through the peel ad to click on any thumbs or links. i wholeheartedly recommend them to my competitors.
