So I taught my daughter how to ride a bike this weekend and...
She rocked! up and pedaling in 2 minutes and taking off at 50 mph LOL. Only had to hold on to the bike one time before I let go. Before we knew it she was breaking, making turns, doing figure 8's. never even fell once.
She felt like a champion and I did too. :thumbsup It was a proud moment. a milestone reached! and you? a proud moment or milestone lately? let's hear it :) |
My puppy Lucca learned how to bitch slap people...
|
Congrats.
|
Awww how cute! Well done.
I remember when my dad taught me. As a kid you learn so fast but it's scary nevertheless :) |
i remember my first time well, i drove directly into a trashbin :-/

Now you can teach her Wheeelies

Nice, Lori!
I taught my daughter a couple years ago ... same scenario - up and peddling right away, breaking, figure 8's and all! Definitely one of those proud moments! It's funny, I felt the same way when I taught her to tie her shoes as well! My son's most recent accomplishment was climbing up the step stool and washing his hands and face all by himself ... water still sprays everywhere but he's doing it! LOL Funny how even the smallest things make me proud :) |

that's awesome Lori, tell her that we said congrats on the big girl status :thumbsup
|
Well a 10 year old should be able to do that by now ;) J/K

We've been trying to teach our daughter how to ride a bike on and off for the past year. Nothing seemed to work. It wasn't until just now when the weather got warmer and all of the other kids started riding their bikes. Suddenly she figured it out.
Last week we went for our first bike ride and it was great! So we went out this weekend and she managed to hit a pole pretty hard - to the point where we had to call a friend with a SUV to come pick her up. She's fine now. But yeah, what a whoot to have your child really riding a bike on their own for the first time. |
Aww so many tender moments in this thread! Congrats to all the growing chilluns and rugrats and their proud parents!
|
Congrats! You have all the reason to be proud!
|
I shot a deer over the weekend:)
1 Shot and downed it from almost 50-60 yards away. It ran about 100 yards though before collapsing. Got plenty of meat for a while. Anyone want some Jerky? |

hope she is ok! yea it's a proud moment. took a year of coaxing but I told her it is easier than riding her scooter :winkwink: plus we went out an tooled around on a little motorboat around the marina earlier and I let her steer in the basin and taught her how to 'steer'. it applied to the bike later that afternoon so she had a masterful day (I was more nervous about her crashing the boat than falling off the bike! ) |
Cool that's nice to hear...can't wait to teach my son riding on a bike too :)
And eventually, I'd love to see him ride and race in a motorcycle! |

My milestone was getting my son to agree to attend MSF |

wow!! congrats to her glad that you had a great bonding.;)

thats cute! did you treat her to some ice cream afterwards?
|
My son is 3 months old, and is already a huge hockey fan. ;)
|
That's great Lori! How old is your daughter?
|
My 2 year old almost pee'd in the toilet.
Instead he thinks it's much funnier if he pees on me. Not quite a milestone yet, but he's learning to pee on command, with daddy as the target. |

dutch oven has three legs, a wire bale handle, and a slightly convex, rimmed lid so that coals from the cooking fire can be placed on top as well as below. This provides more uniform internal heat and lets the inside act as an oven. ...so... the inside acts as an oven, much like under the covers, it traps you in! that's as close as i got - but the answer is finally revealed I do believe :thumbsup |

and will probably get the same after her riding later today when she shows our friends her new level of kidhood :) |

My 5-year old recently solved Fermat's Last Theorem. You should have seen the look on her face when I told her it had already been solved almost 13 years ago!!! HAWWW STUPID KID!!!

Awww! That is awesome that your daughter accomplished bike riding so quickly and that you got to see it. I bet with all your travel it makes those moments together even more special.
I don't know about any milestones i have reached lately, I do consider The Barefoot Retreat a really big accomplishment though... monumental... probably not but now that it is over and i look at all the work that went into it I feel like I achieved something :) |

Just for illustration, I haven't sit on a bicycle for like 14 years, so it won't be easy. The older I get I surprisingly realize that I want to ride a Harley like never before.. |

Congrats, you know all the prime numbers between 1 and 100,000. What 4 year old doesn't? |

i love this thread and the updates from other people i know on their cuties. Kira is in all gate classes and still getting straight A's, has opted to stay away from boys until she is older and learned to snowboard this season. i wont mention the down side of her turning 13 so you dont get scared. suffice to say, she has tried to get "lippy" and found it unwise.

She was able to attend Cal State LA during summer school. I think it cost me like $60 for all the credits she could handle. Definitely a good investment if she has the gumption. |

and how about this one, a commercial with a teenage kid on it gets lippy with his mom when she calls him in for dinner and he says 'mom you're ruining my life!' and my daughters says to me 'I would never treat you like that' LOLOL. I was like ok, I only wish I had a video camera on you right now so I can play this back in a few years. (alas, if she does attempt to speak like that, she will be far from getting away with it.) I think she knows who she is dealing with by now :thumbsup then you have the moments like today in the grocery store when we are 'power shopping' and she says to me 'thank you for taking extremely good care of me'. WOW! that felt good! |
nice work :)

she is 7 but she told me on her 6th birthday she won't be scared to ride a bike, a year and half later, here we are. only when they are ready they will get it faster. IMO |
My son will be 7 next month and hasn't done the bike thing yet. I bought him one last year and then a week later he fell off his scooter and broke his arm. That ended any potential interest in learning how to ride a bike. Now he tells me he will try it when he turns 8. :)
|
can you come over and show my son how to do that?:winkwink:
