Anyone ever rebuilt/repaired a wrecked crotchrocket?

I'm fairly mechanically inclined as far as cars, trucks, dirtbikes, small engines, etc go but im considering buying a wrecked bike for dirt cheap in hopes of having the frame repaired or swap all the parts over to another frame. Anyone have any experience or information on this topic? Here are the pics I have to go by, going to check it out in person tomorrow.

How much are they paying you to take it off their hands?

I think Spannow knows a thing or two about them - one of his nicknames is Johnny Crotch Rocket...

it looks like its in pretty good shape minus the obvious fact the front forks are removed from the frame

btw the bike is a 2007 CBR 1000RR

They are disposable. Rebuilding a bike can easily cost more than buying a running one from a private party.

How long has it been sitting around for ?

I have bought a few wrecked bikes and parted them out on ebay.

that is what I was thinking if it doesn't work out finding a frame to swap I could always strip it down and part it out on ebay

The front forks don't look like they were removed from the frame... looks like the impact of whatever the bike hit demolished them and destroyed the frame, too. You better check the engine for damage as well. Don't know how much you paid for the bike, but you're gonna need a lot more than a new frame to swap to: forks, front wheel, front brakes, radiator, gauges, fairings, clip ons, etc. and that doesn't count if you need a new engine.

Here's Alysha's and my ride:

3-400 dollars? I say buy it.

As for being a $12k bike, not quite. Even the '08's have an MSRP of $11,600 and this is a new body style. The '06 & '07's you can find for around $9k or less.

Still a good deal, though... Just my opinion.

Ya, I meant the original purchase price. But with only 3k miles on it I should be able to make a good return parting it out on ebay if I can't repair it.

Yep... if you have the time and patience to do that (I don't, lol), then parting it out will definitely get your money back.

We co-sponsored an AMA Superbike team (Yamaha) last year, as well as a CCS Florida team (Suzuki), but don't have any Honda connections... sorry. Good luck, though.

Thank you, I did not put on my glasses, but the thing looked demolished to me.

Not in its current condition it isn't. $200 maybe.
