Rusty Ran out of Money

I feel bad for him although he's plugging Adult Platinum to make some cash so Lensman will be happy: http://www.thumbs.to/thumbs.html

Thats just pathetic, he should have just hotlinked from a freehost & kept his business.

Bobo 10-12-2002 04:03 PM

I agree...he must have been making like $3/month. TGP's don't burn through mpbs of bandwidth. I wonder if he's really planning to come back or not :(

pimplink 10-12-2002 04:09 PM

I hate to see threads like these. I wish you the best, Rusty. Better success on your next venture.

Bobo 10-12-2002 04:18 PM

Does he check GFY?

Sly_RJ 10-12-2002 04:21 PM

This is what company credit cards are for.

Hey didn't notice that before. Every few times you visit the page instead of going to his site he directs you to 3-4 pop-ups.

Anyway, his message is as follows:
What happened to Rusty's Thumbs?
I'm sure that this is the question that everyone is asking when they encounter this page. The simple answer is that I've run out of money to host this site at the moment. The bandwidth on this site has been killing me for the last few months so this is my last ditch effort to raise the funds to move this site to a cheaper server. I need all the loyal surfers to this site to check out my sponsors and hopefully sign up - sadly, it's the only way to make enough money to move the site. So if you ever thought about signing up for a premium site, this is the best time. There are 87 sites to choose from and they all have incredible pictures & movies that should satisfy any taste. I apologize for this interruption...

It's really to bad about Rusty. He's been around along time.
I think he'll over come this as he has with other things.

Rusty, if your reading this board, if there is anything I can do to help let me know.

Yeah I know he's been around for years. How could this happen? Poor business model?

OzKaNoz 10-12-2002 05:08 PM

Bobo
I don't know. I alway thought he had a good site. I haven't seen doing anything for awhile now.

I hope he manages to get back on his feet. However, this does make one wonder about the TGP business...

Pipecrew 10-12-2002 05:22 PM

How much does he need? and how much is his hosting bill, anyone know?

Nic 10-12-2002 05:34 PM

Maybe I should do that on some of my sites. Hopefully he's making some money off of that!

Mr.Fiction 10-12-2002 05:38 PM

Is he selling his domain?

I dunno good question. I don't think the domain name is very good...I don't even know who he registered it with. Those types of domains (ex whatever.to) are not even recognized by the major registrars to my knowledge, such as networksolutions.

What doesn't make sense is that he's been around for a long time, had 50k+ daily viewers many that were loyal visitors, he didn't use blind links or scripts to boost traffic.

jimmyf 10-12-2002 06:25 PM

I use to have a .to domain sold it... I did very good with it... sold it with 1 sponsors recurring for some good money also....

Bobo 10-12-2002 06:35 PM

Where does one register a .to domain anyway?

beemk 10-12-2002 06:37 PM

he should try a paypal donation button instead of getting his surfers to sign up for sites.
