Matt Serra and Bernard Hopkins got KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT
I figured I'd start the GFY fight night spoiler fest early today.
|
Your an idiot, they havent even fought. I hope that Serra knocks Pierre out tonight. I Like St peirre and all but people who say it was a fluke are fucking tools. No knockout in an MMA fight is a fluke. Serra is one of the best BJJ guys in the world and his hands are heavy. I just love an underdog.
|
lol, I'm an idiot because you can't understand my original one line post? :error
|
St-Pierre is going to G&P him till he taps
|
|
Agreed, wasn't a fluke. Any given Sunday always applies and Serra is a worthy fighter who capitalized on a good move, but certainly not a fluke.
When I was in a match I had a rule that the winner buys the beer... I think drinks are on GSP tonight. |
I give GSP an 80% chance to win tonight.
|
serra for the win

the only thing that REALLY hurts Serra is having back problems. I have had two ruptured L4 L5 discs and it is almost impossible to move. I dont know how he will come back from that. BUT if he does then what will people say about GSP or Matt Hughes for that matter?

had that not happened i don't think you would have seen the match you did. that being said the over under on the fight is so great that you could have made a huge chunk by betting both ways. (at 10-1 put 300 on gsp and 100 on sera and you would have netted 700) |
Calzaghe's undefeated record is comprised of a who's who list of cab drivers, cashiers and mechanics who he fought in his back yard. Now he comes to America for the first time to "prove" himself against a 43 year old promoter. Congrats to him on the paycheck but this fight is a joke and I hope he gets his ass kicked for our troubles. Even if he wins, he's still a fucking loser in my book. All that time, he could have come to fight with the best just like Bernard and all the other elite guys do. You can't just hide away and fight guys nobody knows or cares about and run around calling yourself the best in the world, then expect that a win over an over the hill guy with a name and a real record is gonna mean anything. What a fucking joke.

With that said, I think it's gonna be GSP this time around. With GSP working the outside where he has the range. |

Interesting observation, I was thinking he'd do the opposite and take him down ala Matt Hughes. I think it's Serra's height that gave GSP problems in the first meeting. It caused him to lead with his head and he never looked comfortable to me. Is Serra that good on the ground that GSP wont go there? IMO if he tries to stand even on the outside there's a strong chance we see a repeat of the last fight. It will just come later this time. |
poo vs poo...
who wins? who cares? i like poo |
i got 300 on serra at +430...regardless of who wins thats a deal imo
we all know gsp is a great fighter..but is he a 4 to 1 fighter against serra? i dont think so |
Serra is gonna get his asshole double fisted and handed to him on a crane in the hospital

To say he lost because he slipped is utter bullshit. He was playing with fire. Anyone who knows their standup can see that. |

GSP has problems finishing guys who are good on their back, with BJJ. BJ Penn, Mayhem Miller, come to mind. He got decisions on those guys. Serra's BJJ is pretty good, I'd say better than Mayhem's, almost as good as BJ. I think Serra would give GSP a really good run for this fight if it goes to the ground. GSP does his best on the ground against wrestlers. Look at what he did to Koscheck, arguably one of the best wrestlers in the UFC, and we saw what he did to Hughes, another very good wrestler. Wrestlers hate to be on their back, and it shows. I'll give both Kos and Hughes props for learning BJJ, but at their core, they are wrestlers. |
Serra.. I think GSP is the real deal, but I feel Serra has it in the BJJ department and his hands are much improved.
Serra TKO or GSP in a decision.. Got to love the underdog.. Then again i think Anthony knows more than me on this kind of stuff..lol |

Have you ever rolled with Serra? You two were like the first group of BJJ Black Belts in the USA. |

I was there at the bell center, what a great night of fights... my hearing will come back in a couple days.
|
I called it.

Great weekend of fights, I really enjoyed all the fights except that middle fight where the guy just backed up over and over again.. Makes you go hmmmmmmm
Really enjoyed the Hopkins fight too, I thought he did better than 116-111.. I would have had the fight closer to a draw imho. Hopkins took at least 5 of the first 6 rounds and at least one in the latter half of the fight, plus the knockdown.. 116-111??? |
Here's an audio of the post fight conference. Interesting, GSP mentioned that his game plan was to stay outside and strike, or come in close. Both to stay out of the power range of Serra.

Watching the fight live was incredible, best sporting event I have ever been to.

I was glad Franklin won as well....he had to. I think Hughes vs Serra will be a better match up.
