If you want family oriented, fun games or to play with friends - get a WII.

I wouldn't bother getting a PS3 as theres really nothing good for it.

All the intense shooters and other good games are for the xbox 360.

I just picked up a wii on amazon - free shipping, no tax.
I know I'm a bit behind but the gf really wanted it.
Need to figure out what games to get now.

PS3 for me ..

Wii for parties and when friends are over and PS3 for everything else.

The only thing that the Wii really has going for itself are its epic titles (Zelda, Metroid, and Mario, for example). And even though the party games are fun as hell, they're terribly boring by yourself (even if you are unlocking levels).

The PS3 has many more advantageous qualities to it than the Wii does. For one, I can play all of my PSone and PS2 games on it seamlessly; Two, the graphics are absolutely phenomenal (especially on a great TV -- I got a 61" DLP); Three, I don't even use the DVD player on the home theater system -- the upscaling on the PS3 is brilliant.

I can't really talk smack about the 360 because I have only played a couple of games on it. Graphics on the 360 look decent. I just can't stand the bulk of the controller.

xbox360 to play cod4 with my friends.

xbox 360 for cod4 (above) and deffinatly halo 3

XBox 360 for the intense stuff and a Wii for having people over and drinking fun.

I don't play games except for when Michelle Lynn brings over her PS2 for us to play Guitar Hero, but she owns the DS, PSP, PS3, XBox360, and the Wii. She seems to think that she couldn't live without any of them. She's such a fucking geek!

Well said, certainly Xbox has a big advantage over PS3 in selection of games right now. In time the PS3 will catch up especially once it gets duel shock back.

I have box PS3 and Xbox and I sure an't buying any games for the PS3 till something decent comes out, the xbox version is always better because of Xbox live where everyone has a mic.

looking forward to granturismo when the final one comes out though.

Great games. CoD4 for the online play
RTTS for the realisim and addiction value (start in the minor leagues and try to make it to "The Show")

I have all current consoles and i play the 360 most.. the only thing i HATE about it is it's noise! it's ridiculesly loud

Same here. 360 is great if you don't care about having a big fan noise when playing :/
I heard the elite made less noise. Don't know if it is true though.

Wii + Mario Kart is all you need.

I got a PS3 based on the Blu Ray player, but I like playing a game occasionally.

Then get a wii you can download allot of the old snes n64, sega genesis, turbo graphics and neo geo games.

It is the best if you have friends that come over and I have been playing super smash brothers non stop since I got it.

I know you said 'console' but PC gaming, literally, without contest, has and still is the BEST system for gaming.

Some of the things they rave about for consoles really surprise me. First person shooters are absolute crap on consoles, not just the graphics, but the control is lame. I hate those analog sticks...who ever invented them should be shot.

Now racing games, that's another story. Consoles rule for that action.
