Quit smoking pills???

I want to quit smoking cigs and Its is near impossible. I heard of some pills that is suppose to work really well. Does anyone know of any or more importantly has anyone here tried using pills to stop working and if so how did it work out for you?

Try hypnotherapy. My friend had one session and quit immediately!

Pills are useless try NicVAX:2 cents:

My doctor prescribed me Chantix, it's the newest thing. Unfortunately it made me feel weird and like shit so I only took 1 pill.
that was like 100+ dollars wasted.

I've tried it all and the only way I was able to stop smoking was to cold turkey. Man it up, the feeling only last a few days.

Try Stop Smoking Patches - Zero Nico

5 months no smoking - I got a prescription for Chantix. If you can get past the queezy feeling it gives you for the first week it works awesome! Withdrawls were minimal, it blocks the nicotene receptors in your brain so even if you do slip and smoke it doesn't do anything for you.

I think you are right. At one time I was able to quit for about 4 months. But in turn I was addicted to the Nicorette gum. Granted I felt better though. I was just chewing piles of the gum in substitution for the smokes.

I was always still hooked in other words. :(

I really can't see myself getting hypnotized I think I wouldn't be able to. As far as as a vaccine that might be worth a shot "no pun intended" Can your family physician give you the shot or..?

I also heard about Chantix, might be worth a try but I heard some messed up things about the side affects.

I have really tried cold turkey and it just won't work or I might not be ready to quit.

interesting link for ZeroSmoke...... thought about trying it though, since nothing has worked yet..Just kinda skeptical about putting a magnet or any device in my ear.

i am currently taking Chantix to quit smoking

you are supposed to smoke for the first week while on them and then stop;
the duration of the pills is for 3 months

i have smoked forever and tried quitting a billion times, and it just plain ole SUCKS!!

i've been on these pills for 4 days now, and already i barely feel the urge to smoke

i know a few people who have taken these, and it has a pretty high success rate

good luck!!

TOTALLY AGREE!

My wife smoked about a pack a day for over 20 years and started taking Chantix with no noticeable side effects. Also the cost is about $100 a month for the prescription but that is about what she spent on cigs monthly.

The first week you can smoke all you want while taking the pills then on DAY 8 it's COLD TURKEY! She said that not only did she not have the nicotine craving but that the cigarettes themselves tasted like CRAP!

BOTTOM LINE: It's day 44 and she has no desire to smoke at all!

I quit about 6 months ago, I'm 53 and have been smoking since I was 13 , my sister is a doctor and she gave me a prescription for Bupropion (same as Wellbutrin, Zyban). I took them for two weeks, then quit the cigs and took them for another two weeks after quitting.

Haven't had a cigarette since and haven't even missed them

Bupropion, Wellbutrin or Zyban are antidepressants and they apparently modify the dopomene levels.

FDA Warning: Chantrix May Cause Suicidal Thoughts

from an article I found, im not allowed to post URL's yet, until I hit 30 posts.

Interesting that you brought this up as my wife is also taking Bupropion along with the Chantix and I guess it helps her deal with any negative thoughts because I thought that quitting would make her irritable and moody but she seems to be in the best mental state that I have seen her in since we've been married.

Life is Good :thumbsup
