Azlord 04-17-2008 05:59 PM

Just use your XBOX360 if you have one.

farkedup 04-17-2008 06:24 PM

apple is so gay, how long till the pink one comes out? maybe that one will sell!

my vote goes to an xbox or hell HTPC's rock! 1080p TV's and HDMI with the PC = heaven

subc 04-17-2008 06:27 PM

I'm still waiting for my iToothbrush...

I mean, if apple makes one really good product, the rest must be awesome too, right?

DirtyDanza 04-17-2008 08:07 PM

hey pheer if you want to roll over to costco up on charleston meet me there ill bite the bullet with you and get one...

I know all about em if you got any questions about em...

only thing I worry about is I don't think it's a true HD source.. the vids ive seen at the apple store werent that great.. but now with the rental system they have with itunes for hd videos it is a true hd source from what I understand... I dunno like I said im down if you want to they got the best deal on the big one....

mrkris 04-17-2008 08:42 PM

I have an apple tv and love it, and no, it doesn't run hot at all. I love it because I can sync anything and everything from my office to my living room via itunes. So if I load, say, 500 movies into itunes in my office, I can now watch ... 500 movies in the living room via live streaming, or pre-syncing.

There are lots of neat things about it, but apple haters will always have something negative to say.

I never liked apple until i got a free ipod from TCG. Then a free video ipod from AFF. Then I bought an iPhone which is pretty cool... it got me to stop hating apple anyway.

Look at a mini MAC I have one connected to my TV and it runs Itunes, does movies and is a complete computer with a blue tooth mouse and keyboard just using the TV as a monitor.

It does everything Apple TV does PLUS it is a complete Macintosh. So if you prefer to check the web it works, download a movie from someplace other than itunes, it works. etc etc etc

I cant really tell you what the advantages are because I dont have apple tv

I just know I have had this for about a year and I love it

There movie library is massive and new releases come out the same day they hit DVD...

Just throwing out another option for people that might not want to give steve all there money.. Not that im against that as yes I am a mac lover but this was the real only option last year for renting movies since apple tv was a joke until the new version that came out beginning of this year... I have been thinking about getting an apple tv just to compair the differences between the 2 but I havent yet...

I've been insulted. SO What! Find a nice cabinet to hide your windows PC.

You can do so much with a PC, MAC OX or Windows. The best thing if you haven't tried it yet is NetFlix. (Windows Only) 8,000 movies you can watch instantly, and the quality depends on your connection for $9.95 a month.

ADL Colin 04-18-2008 06:57 AM

I use mine all the time

These hacks are availible for the Apple TV.

Ill get a vudu for Atlanta and compare the differences.
And yes the new version of this thing has been pretty nice.

There are a lot of emerging business models out there being developed to look at and I can see all my friends from Revision3 and Digg on there instead of being shackled to the computer.

Get a TVIX. Plays everything an you can stick a 1TB drive in it.

I'm pretty sure you can do all that video streaming stuff using the PS3 too. Just network it to your computer using the wi-fi connection and you are good to go.

When I get my new computer I am going to rip all my DVD collection to the hard drive then I can stream them to any of my Xbox 360's, so my entire movie collection with be available on demand without having to fart around with the actual DVDs.

We do the exact same thing. We use the TV as a monitor and we also have it hooked into the stereo for music from our iTunes. We haven't played a CD in a long long time. The mini is networked and synced with my iMac in my home office so I can download whatever I want while working and watch it on the TV later. I also can check my e-mail and messaging while in the family room watching TV, and even browse GFY! ;)

HTPC + Mediaportal ( http://www.team-mediaportal.com/ )

Altough I simply use my notebook (RGB out) and my wireless G to stream with VLC. 720HD looks great and no probs (3 sec buffer activated).

bobby666 04-18-2008 12:10 PM
