Who is using WINDOWS VISTA?

I just installed it on my 2nd pc and i think i like it better.

Tat2Jr 04-14-2008 06:57 AM

I'll trade you your XP reg number for my Vista reg number. I hate that OS. I have it on my laptop, and it doesn't do any of my video editing correctly.

pornguy 04-14-2008 06:58 AM

I have it but from the factory. Its not bad, and sometimes it can be a pain in the ass, But it also has some nice features.
I have the business one.

qxm 04-14-2008 06:59 AM

I have Vista but I tweaked the royal hell out of this OS to make it work just the way I want to......haven't had the BSD problems I had with XP which is the reason why I migrated to this OS.......

kmanrox 04-14-2008 06:59 AM

the NSA had a hand in developing Vista, keep that in mind if you like your privacy.

Scott McD 04-14-2008 07:02 AM

I haven't had any real problems with it, so far...

cykoe6 04-14-2008 07:04 AM

I could write a novel about all the problems that Windows Vista has. One simple warning though... if you use Macromedia Dreamweaver then you CANNOT use Vista as they are not compatible. Additionally Vista is a HUGE memory hog. It is honestly the most fucked up OS I have ever tried. I can only compare it to Windows ME.

VicD 04-14-2008 07:06 AM

Never used it, still usign XP

Adam_OC3 04-14-2008 07:09 AM

I have vista on my laptop hated it at first, but now it's not that bad

V_RocKs 04-14-2008 07:13 AM

Vista = Windows ME for the new millennium.

Zuzana Designs 04-14-2008 07:15 AM

I was using it but switched back...

Stay with XP!!! Vista sucks ass!!! I am stuck with it for now and don't like it!:(:helpme

SilentKnight 04-14-2008 07:26 AM

Vista on the new Acer laptop.

WinXP on the older Toshiba laptop and the desktop.

I HATE VISTA!

Why?

'Cuz numerous old apps (i.e. photo editors) don't have signed drivers for it and are now obsolete on Vista.

Too intrusive.

Jens Van Assterdam 04-14-2008 07:29 AM

Got vista on a very powerfull machine.. love it so far.

Mike Semen 04-14-2008 07:34 AM

Bullshit :2 cents:

SayWhut 04-14-2008 07:35 AM

Was running Vista a while back. Couldn't get my printer on the network working. Worked fine before in XP but cocked up using the "vista" drivers. Plugged the printer into Mac OS X 10.4 and it didn't even have to install any drivers to get it working. Also slowed down like fuck after using it for a week.

It looks nice yeah I'll give it that .... but thats really the only plus point for the so called operating system ... :error

WZRogeR 04-14-2008 07:38 AM

I am... not use :1orglaugh

I´m just buying a new pc for editing. May I ask which software you are using for editing? i don´t want to get in trouble with it. I´m using ulead media studio pro (not compatible with Vista anyways) and Premiere Pro CS3.

Thank´s

martinsc 04-14-2008 09:11 AM

with SP1 I like it even more :thumbsup

Oh come one man! You have not used Windows 95? Windows 98? THOSE shitty OSs!! :)

I have a couple of complaints I could do for Vista, but honestly, but nothing too serious, I think times of fucked up OSs is gone, now what we got are choices.

I'll third that notion, as I currently have it up and running on a Vista box, too.

Out of the 4 computers I regularly use in my life, 2 of them have Vista installed on them, and, honestly, I prefer it. Nearly all of the (minor) issues I had with the OS were resolved in SP1... but even before SP1, I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Maybe if you don't have at least 2 gigs of RAM on the box, I could see where it'd be a problem (it is a bit resource-heavy), but, provided you have that, I'm curious as to what the specific issues are. If you have vendors who still don't have drivers that work (which I don't) - I'm thinking you should blame the vendors.

dicknixon 04-14-2008 09:26 AM

I have Vista 64 on my main machine, and I actually like it as well. The new folder navigation is very helpful and with 4gb of ram, it runs very nice. I guess with all of the shit talk I expected it to be like Windows ME. . . its more like XP with a few nice tweaks and larger hardware requirements.

But if you have more than 3gb of ram, and you want to use it . . I'd recommend vista 64. (unless you are a linux guy)

Try doing this then installing:

1. Open an Administrator command prompt by right clicking on Start -> All
Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt and selecting "Run as
Administrator" and clicking "Allow" for the elevation prompt
2. In the command prompt, type the command below
fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
(This assumes that C: is the drive in which Vista is installed. If it is
installed on another drive like D:, please change the drive letter
appropriately)
3. Reboot the machine

iMind 04-14-2008 09:53 AM

Vista made me a "switcher" :)

Slick 04-14-2008 10:25 AM

I love Vista !! I've had it since the day it came out and am glad I got it.

Same here! I also like some of the features. Fonts looks better.

But it slows down easily when you open 5 t0 7 windows at a time! :disgust

IllTestYourGirls 04-14-2008 12:49 PM

I do not have it. My brother just emailed me the other day telling me how he HATES vista.

wargames 04-14-2008 12:50 PM

I probably overstated. DW will run but there are numerous problems with permission errors which make it difficult to use. I have seen plenty of discussion about the problems with Vista and DW on various forums so it is not just some problem I am having.

There are numerous small problems with Vista that make it a huge time waster for me and the way I work. It likely depends on what types of programs you usually use.

Violetta 04-14-2008 02:11 PM

I do... But i cannot make my dual screen setup work. Nvidia+nvidia+vista = a problem

maxxxxx 04-14-2008 02:24 PM

Just bought myself a new Acer laptop and gave the guys in the store a couple of headaches since I insisted on having XP on it. Glad I did!
