Do freesites, TGPs, free trailers need age verification?
 

The debate is starting again, partly do to recent litigation, so i thought i'd get a barometer check: does an Age Verification on TGPs and other marketing protect the webmasters from obscenity and other charges? Are they useful, or more like the games/music ratings where it only confirms to minor surfers that they are on the right trail?

Id be interested to see what the consensus is.. weigh in.

and moreover, if I have an age verification script in JavaScript (for SEO purposes), will I get in trouble for serving content to the 3% with it turned off?

Obligatory disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, just some dude. Take my post with a grain of salt.

I believe the only federal law to impose adult verification measures on porn sites was COPA, and that was ruled unconstitutional. However, having adult verification on your porn sites can show, in the case of any lawsuits or prosecutions, that you were diligent in keeping minors from accessing your content and should reflect positively on you.
