Could be a stupid question - Could a dog get aids?

I was wondering, if anyone know if a dog could get aids from a human?

:helpme

I dare not even ask why you'd like to know..
Anyways, there are monkeys in Africa that are infected with HIV, so i don't see why a dog couldn't get it either.

No I dont think its possible.
Human is very close to monkey, but not dog.

Not that I am aware of..... illnesses and diseases between dogs and humans are not or are very hard to contract eg Influenza.

Dogs and cats can contract aids however from their own species - there is a canine and feline version of aids. In cats its quite common because they tend to roam and fuck like bunnies, and is spreading quite fast. See your vet if you are worried.

In fact, the HIV actually comes from a monkey (in the very beginning) correct me if i'm wrong but I think they have the virus in their genes, it just doesn't develop....

You gotta wonder how it came to humans, if it's a monkey disease...considering the way you can transmit it....
oh well.. :Graucho

the latest research on the origin of hiv is quite fascinating.

It looks like hiv crossed over from chimps to humans sometime in the 1950s or before. The first recorded case was a norwegian sailor in the 1950s(how the scientists figured that one out is fascinating in its own right).

Anyway chimps have had their version of hiv for 2 million years and have had time to develop a some immunity. Would that it were so for humans.

Very few viruses cross the species barrier. When they do, its news: remember the mad cow disease in england?

Dogs can't get AIDS from a human. I payed attention in health class so I could find out what a vagina was.

It's still going on.... they are still no closer to figuring out how many of us over here are infected/carrying BSE.

Due to the cheap processing of meat during the 80's and this meat being sold in economy based products such as Burgers, the numbers of infected people could run into the hundreds of thousands easily. The disease can also incubate for decades.....

Kinda puts you off eating burgers....

"Could be a stupid question - Could a dog get aids?"

What would make it stupid? How will we know?
