RATBOY 10-11-2002 08:53 AM

I got the EXACT same thing on my pc yesterday afternoon as I was shutting it down.

I closed the window and forgot about it till I saw that. Anyone else?

source_of_power 10-11-2002 08:55 AM

And I receive those #$%^#$% University Diplomas on almost all of my e-mail addresses.... they are the most aggressive spammers I know. They do not advertise a website, but always a phone number. Man, I would like to shut them down!

pink_in_the_middle 10-11-2002 09:01 AM

I had the same thing. i didn't even bother reading it I just closed it.

RATBOY 10-11-2002 09:04 AM

Opinions on how it gets addy's? Seems a number of us have had this recently... Searches your ICQ contacts? Or outlook address book?

source_of_power 10-11-2002 09:09 AM

I would say it's sending to IP's not e-mail addresses.

Smegma 10-11-2002 09:19 AM

What a great fucking way to sell Internet Eraser!

"Warning - Questionable Material of a Sexual Nature has been found on your PC. YOU'RE FIRED McFLY!"

Indeed, it looks like a net send exploit.

Paul Markham 10-11-2002 09:57 AM

That is just too bad.

How long before they write a virus that will open itself?

BJ 10-11-2002 09:59 AM

net send domain:www.gofuckyourself.com /users sign up for www.puremeds.com

Sunshine McGillicutty 10-11-2002 09:59 AM

Had the exact same message on my PC this morning.

Fuckin spammers! :ak47:

if it is a net send exploit, it has to be on the NT platform

Cyber3 10-11-2002 10:39 AM

That is a net send message, old DOS comand built it to windows,

To disable on NT4, Win2k and XP go to your services and disable your "Messenger Service"

This will not affect any other services of your PC.

It was mostly used in office Networks, you could send a "Net Send" message to all compuetrs on your network.

It's been years since I have touched a win98 machine the service is somewhere?

All the spammer needs in your computer name to do this.

Regards,

Kevin

jimmyf 10-11-2002 10:39 AM

I made a post today on expoliting NetBios but it was for Win98 & ME.. Stealing passwords... wonder if any Win98 & ME user bother to down load it....:1orglaugh

you wouldnt need a computer name, you can send the mesaage to all computers on a network using the /users command. For those of you at college on a large network, you can have some serious fun with this!

Voodoo 10-11-2002 10:42 AM

I got one of those also!

WTF! I've been getting a bunch of little popups periodically w/o having anything open.

There is a program that keeps installing itself, called "Gator Ads" or something like that. Don't know how it gets there, but, I remove it, and it comes back.

I wonder if that has something to do with that popup this morning.

xanx 10-11-2002 12:22 PM

It looks really colse to the same thing that was made famous with sub7 trojan. Looks like they just made use of it for advertising purposes.

RedShoe 10-11-2002 12:28 PM

Snazzy!!!

Where the hell have you been bro?

Ace-Ace 10-11-2002 12:29 PM

I wondered if anyone would figure out netsend/messenger for spams. It's annoying isn't it?

http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/a...374542,00.html

That has instructions on how to disable the built-in network messenger. It will stop these ads.

-=HOAX=- 10-11-2002 02:01 PM

Yup that's a win2k net message...you can modify it to send to ip's, then rename your computer and blammo..I have it...but ain't gonna give that shit out...its the bane of all spam...specially since I could send like 15k to one computer and you'd have to close them all before you could do anything...

I use blackice as a firewall and it won't stop them...its nice to send them to the script kiddies on windows tho...

"You have recieved a message! From:HOAXR To:65.124.89.001
Stop it with the port probe's before I ruin your day!"

RockDaddy 10-11-2002 02:04 PM

I got that exact same thing yesterday on XP. My messenger wasn't even connected. I had just finished checking out a ARS link and I spent the next hour trying to replicate it. (thinking it came from the ars tour)

Some good info here, thanks.
