Girl with MRSA working as porn talent in LA

I just heard from a very well-placed source that there's a girl in LA (she's originally from Florida though) who has MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus infection). No info on how long she's had it, though she's on her second or third trip to LA... she's done at least ten scenes out here, and probably more in FL. Just one more thing to worry about.

BVF 04-08-2008 11:07 AM

As long as you're the one holding the camera, what's the problem? :)

marcop 04-08-2008 11:09 AM

Cancelled shoots is one problem. Liability if other talent gets infected is another problem.

marcop 04-08-2008 11:11 AM

Apparently, the infection can be spread through any open wounds, cuts, etc. So even though you may just be holding the camera, any physical contact--even touching--could spread the infection.

Perfect Andi 04-08-2008 11:13 AM

I think he was kidding...

I can't think of 20 girls walking around with that over the last year or so.

It's been common in Porn Valley since 2005.

BlackCrayon 04-08-2008 11:21 AM

This post is useless without names.

GrouchyAdmin 04-08-2008 11:23 AM

ALERT: Open sores may no longer be an attribute of meth.

CE_Rashaan 04-08-2008 11:32 AM

Honestly I have been hearing of a lot of people with MRSA...

and it has been around in the industry for a while

but from what I heard the name sounds a lot worse then the actual infection

which typically results in small to larger cyst like bumps similar to large pimples that sometimes need to be cut and drained if infected. (CNN)

Im no doctor but it dont sound like anything to be worried about :2 cents:

Sarah_Jayne 04-08-2008 11:34 AM

put her in a British hospital and then she can feel like part of the crowd

I didn't realize it was no big deal... I guess I panicked. Sorry.

lickmymonster 04-08-2008 12:00 PM

The reason mrsa is dangerous is that it is resistant to anti biotics.

Methicillin (anti-biotic) resistant Staphylococcus Aureus

10 yrs ago it was rampant in hospitals. Now its in the schools on grocery cart handles you name it.

Or maybe I didn't panic:
"Another study led by the CDC and published in the October 17, 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association estimated that MRSA would have been responsible for 94,360 serious infections and associated with 18,650 hospital stay-related deaths in the United States in 2005.[4][5] These figures suggest that MRSA infections are responsible for more deaths in the U.S. each year than AIDS."

I've come across a few girls over the last two years who had staph infections, but not MRSA. The difference between the two is MRSA is resistant to most antibiotics, and so a lot harder to treat. And any pathogen that kills at least 18,000 people a year in the US is probably not something to take lightly.

Im not trying to fuck with you nor say it isnt something to worry about, because I sure as hell dont want MRSA.

BUT

you notice how the report you quoted says MRSA is responsible for 94,360 serious infections and ASSOCIATED with 18,650 hospital stay-related deaths?

it doesnt say MRSA was the cause of those deaths, just that it was associated, more then likely these where people that died of other conditions but got MRSA while in the hospital... which by the way is the number one place that MRSA can be contracted.

I would be willing to bet that FEVER and or FLU was also associated with most of those 18,650 deaths

Eriic 04-08-2008 01:20 PM

Is she one of Donny Longs girls?

Tom_PM 04-08-2008 01:29 PM

What bothers me about MRSA is that chances are VERY GOOD that if the medical field had stuck with using the anti-biotic that was BARELY stronger than the infection all these past years, it would NOT be as resistant that it is.

In other words if you have a patient with an infected tooth, give penicillin, not the most new fangled out of this world incredibly effective super duper anti biotic that man has ever created. Common sense.

Find a can of ant spray that worked in the 60's and chances are that it's totally ineffective today. Same thing. Resistance is NOT futile, it's nature!

That's just dumb. It's like saying you can get AIDS from shaking hands with someone.

TheAmericanCannibal 04-08-2008 01:42 PM

I had MRSA and it almost killed me.
It is not a fun thing to have.
The antibiotics almost killed me they were so powerful.
Anyone who saw me in Vegas this last Internext can attest I wasn't looking too hot.

I was sick for over a month, my cyst developed in my armpit and was the most painful thing I have ever felt.

If you have what looks like an ingrown hair or an abcess get it checked out before it's too late.

This infection can spread and kill off healthy tissue.
Be safe.

This could quite possibly be the stupidest post in the history of message board posting. You could absolutely get MRSA from the methods he is describing. I got MRSA in my shoulder from an open wound I received from getting thrown off a horse, and I was very sick for a very long time.

Amateur wrestlers, BJJ practitioners, and anyone else that rolls around on a mat have also been picking up MRSA at ridiculous rates.

LeCharles Bentlety has yet to play a down of football with the Cleveland Browns because he contracted MRSA in his knee while rehabbing from knee surgery. It was determined that he contracted it from the Browns locker room, where they had a mini MRSA outbreak...

Tom_PM 04-08-2008 01:54 PM

Yep, some schools close down and do a TOTAL SCRUBDOWN of EVERYTHING in the school. Especially the gym locker rooms and tables and benches and anything that multiple students might touch.

Some demand the students take home their sports uniforms everyday and wash them.

It's the closest thing we have to a "community well" spread disease.

I always wash after coming home from the grocery store after touching the same things that thousands of others have touched.. I'm not OCD, but hell some things are just common sense.

Porno Dan 04-08-2008 03:18 PM

This is a very serious issue that needs to be addressed.

Anyone who has MRSA should NEVER be allowed on a porn set.

It is highly contagious and potentially fatal. I should know my wife was in the cardiac ward of the hospital for three nights as a result of it.

MandyBlake 04-08-2008 04:46 PM

so who is it?

munki 04-08-2008 04:55 PM

Has MRSA and not being treated? besides just irresponsible... thats personally dangerous...

Bojangles 04-08-2008 05:17 PM

That's fucked up.

MikeSmoke 04-08-2008 05:44 PM

Unfortunately, MRSA is unbelievably widespread.
I've had medical personnel tell me that at this point, they believe that 50% of all workers in hospitals, from doctors to custodians, have it.
My wife got it in the hospital after a car accident. They haven't been able to kill it off even though they gave her the "anti-MRSA" antibiotic via IV for five days while she was in the hospital after she had our baby.
Her outbreaks are usually on her legs or in her armpits. It CAN be very serious, but only if you're not aware of it and it's not treated.
She gave it to me once (no, NOT on purpose :321GFY ) and I regret to say, it was in my genital area --- it was a cyst, but it felt like I had a third ball until it burst and they had to clean it up in the ER, thankfully with lots of drugs on board :1orglaugh

HAVING SAID ALL OF THAT......
If neither person has blisters, boils (signs of MRSA) or open sores or cuts (that could get infected).....it is NOT going to be transmitted. Even though my wife is a carrier, I've only had it that one time --- now we just check to make sure there's nothing "worrisome" beforehand. If I have a cut, or if she has MRSA blisters, we wait. She carried our baby for nine months and had three outbreaks during that time --- and the baby was fine. We've been told by numerous health care pros that she doesn't have to avoid touching the baby if she has an outbreak --- she just has to make sure her sores are completely bandaged and that she washes her hands with anti-bacterial soap first.
IT'S NOT LIKE COOTIES. YOU DON'T GET IT FROM BEING AROUND GIRLS, EVEN PORN GIRLS.

With the prevalence of MRSA in 2008, chances are that everyone who's done more than a few scenes in the last two years has touched someone who carries MRSA, and didn't get infected. Use common sense, and if you spend one-tenth as much time checking the other person out as you do getting your monthly tests - you have nothing to worry about.

actually, I was told by my doctor, that spider bites are a very common way for the bacteria to be transported into your body, my last staph infection was in fact caused by a spider bite. I have had 3 staph infections in the past 5 years... sucks being a plumber sometimes.

the doc explained that almost everyone has the staph bacteria on their bodies or come into contact with it daily with no issues whatsoever. In my case, I had the bacteria on my calf while I slept one night when the spider bit me, and he pushed the bacteria under my skin where washing and peroxide wouldn't reach it... then it just grew to it's hearts content... took over a month for it to heal that time.

anyways, it's not uncommon for someone to think it's a spider bite, since bites can and often do play a part in the infection.

You.. I have scraped 10 shoots in 4 months. it has costed me more than $3000. And i am the one that pays for it. My clients have no idea how serious that shit is.

I have replaced make up kits and brushes because the out break was discovered after make up was put on. This shit is no joke!!

I think its pretty tough to be talent these days.:2 cents:

if you're not willing to say who it is this thread is useless, just stfu if you don't wanna help anybody. Information about something like this needs to be specific to be useful.

What are we supposed to do, look for zits?

digifan 04-08-2008 08:41 PM

Ouch it sounds terrible :(

DWB 04-08-2008 10:20 PM

Don't worry, most of the industry already has herpes and HPV. Adding a little MRSA to the mix isn't going to hurt anyone. In fact, there should be another HIV outbreak any time now.

To put point blank, if you are afraid of catching STDs in any manner, this is not the business for you. Consider EVERYONE you are fucking will have at least the herpes and HPV virus in their body while you are shagging them.

Very dangerous... and needs to be treated ASAP.

Like it is being said, a lot of people who roll(wrestlers, judo, bjj...ect) pass it around just like ringworm.

One of the reason I don't train ground anymore...

I got a ringworm outbreak this week so I think it stays in your body and then comes back because last time I had it when I rolled was about 3 years go.

No.. this thread is not useless.. This thread will remind you to check all zits, ingrown, hairs and bug bites with the utmost of scrutiny. Girls end up finding out they have it on set or when they go to an emergency room. They think its an ingrown hair or bug bite.

To out these girls on the boards is fucked up. Because people take it wrong.

They find out and get treated if not you die. thats how serious this shit is. This isn't something you get and ignore. It will destroy skin tissue and muscle within 5 days.

As for someone from FL. running around and knowingly exposing people to staph isn't too realistic. Why?? Because she would be in the ER within a week and or taking meds within a week.

I bet she has Herpe not staph:2 cents:

V_RocKs 04-08-2008 11:52 PM

Chick shows up with this shit.

Itches her heal where the problem is.

Transfers this shit to the door knob and light switch in the bathroom.

You pick it up and scratch your head while peeing.

Have fun with this shit on your fucking head.
