Trillian to ICQ move.

Will the new ICQ import contacts from trillian???

Trillian has been giving me a lot of problems lately, so I was thinking of going to the new ICQ which supports AIM now. so.... Anyone know?

your contacts are stored on the icq servers, so no importing necessary. What sort of problems is trillian giving you btw?

Only loads AIM contacts, not the ICQ ones.

People on ICQ can message me, but I can not start the message.

Sounds like maybe you need to reinstall. Are you using the free or pro version, and are you using xp or vista. If Vista you may need to run trillian as administrator once.

I think I downloaded trillian when it first started up... ages ago... gave me nothing but problems then.

Reinstalled it on a box about a year ago, to give it another go... only to be greeted with the fact that I wasn't receiving ICQ's from someone in the same office via Trillian.

Uninstalled it, and swore off it forever.

Only thing you'll lose in straight up dumping trillian and installing ICQ is the message history.

Not sure if the newest version sollved for the issues I was having or not (there were at least a couple)... I decided to dump it and reinstall 5.10 when they announced that the upgrade was mandatory. 5.10's never done me wrong.

Vista, so I will give it a shot as admin. I has worked fine for the last 4 months, and then the other day decided it did not want to.

Was about to tell you hehe. I would try a reinstall if nothing else. Ive used trillian forever with little issues. Hit the trillian forums if you cannot get it resolved most problems are posted there and resolved usually. :thumbsup

Thanks for the help guys. Actually the running as admin seems to have done it.

:thumbsup Good stuff. Did you maybe run a vista update about same time the issue started? If so thats why.

Trillian has always worked great for me under XP Pro, haven't messed with it under Vista yet.
