Excel question
I have a big excel file with words and phrases line by line in cell A, a lot of them have multiple repeats. In cell B, i would like to put the number of times the phrase has repeated. Example
Cell A Cell B Job Fair 2 Job Fair 2 Crayons 1 Keyboards Rule 1 GFY 3 GFY 3 GFY 3 Hope someone can help |
:) That's a challenge, for sure... I love playing with Excel but I have no idea how to do that.

left you a message on ICQ :)
|
=COUNTIF(A:A,"[String your looking for here]")
|
Type the first word eg. GFY 3 on a cell, then click the lowest line on the bottom right. There you'll see a cross mark, click mouse down without removing your finger.

=COUNTIF(A:A,A1) and copy it down may work easier. Not sure if sharphead was implying that or not |
