Why do people like that shitty drink named: Mojito
Seriously it tastes like ass, like dirty sprite dragged through the forrest, everyone marks out for it like it's the second coming of christ.
And I always hear the same thing "Oh you haven't been made a good one yet" tastes like ass, NEXT... yep... ass.... And I drink about anything from beer to bourbon to fufu drinks... I just don't get it. :upsidedow |
your avatar looks like its drinking an enema
|
You think it tastes like shit, other people love it.
That's life... deal with it. |
I will admit that a couple months ago I would have agreed with you whole-heartedly, then I had a good one.
There is a difference. |

hmmm a real bartender you say... Further testing needs to be done |
Most bartenders hate making them, which might explain why some are awful. Too much work to mix them.
|
Mojito is the best drink ever. Most bartenders make them extremely wrong (usually so you won't order another) or use Mojito Mix which is a sin.
|
It really is all in the syrup... There is a such thing as good ones, bad ones, and mediocre ones. I like mine heavy on the mint.
I had a strawberry mojito for the first time last Internext and damn is that a tasty beverage. |

I dont like them either, but I make some killer ones according to my friends

Tell them to go easy on the greens next time.

So your telling us you know what ass taste like.
Ok.. |
How to make a mojito correctly

Made right, they're one of the few drinks that still tempt me and sometimes I'll take a sip of someone's. I don't really drink anymore though.

----- As far as mojitos go... as has already been noted, there's a _huge_ difference in quality between a properly made one and an average one. Much like with martinis, there's only like 1-4% of all bartenders that know how or care enough to make one properly. |

They aren't one of my favorite drinks, but I have one from time to time because, to be perfectly honest, a mojito made right is one of the most refreshing alcoholic beverages for drinking poolside on a hot day :thumbsup

Matt your just not hip. lol

Here's how I do it:
Earlier in the day boil 1 cup water. Add 1 cup sugar, stir to dissolve. Chill. In a glass add 1 tbsp. sugar mix to 5 or so good sized mint leaves. Muddle them until they are well bruised and you can smell the mint strongly. Add ice cubes. Add juice of 1 lime. Add 1 shot white rum (or 2). Top up with soda water. Enjoy! |
I got hooked on them from internext Miami a few years ago . ..haven't had one as good since .. BUT i had a close one on my flight back on westjet from Florida last month .. and it was a simple premix bottle you mixed with your booze and soda ...yummm
|
I like Mojito's just I like Southern Comfort & Sprite on the rocks better :)
|
I fell in love with Mojito's when I lived in Puerto Rico....It was the best mixed drink that I've ever tasted in my life....I haven't had one recently though...I assume that a lot of bartenders don't take the time to make it properly...

You need to get it done right, most bars can't make them. To make it right you need a mortar and pestel, mint leaves and sugar cane. Very few bars have these on hand. If you go to the Florida Internext, order one or two there. They can make it really well and you'll really appreciate it.

I've had a few in my life and they either nasty or just ok. I haven't had a good one yet. And the ingredients that WiredGuy mentioned... sounds like too much work for most bartenders.
|
Never had a taste for it really but I sure do like saying mojito. M...O...J...I...T...O. Oh yea that's the stuff!:)
|
I only like them In Miami! they make the best....

Do they come with little umbrellas?

I don't think this was one of those times. :upsidedow |
They aren't actually bad at all, assuming you buy at a place where bartenders know what they are doing... If you get it at some $1/drink dive, it will indeed probably taste like shit...
|
Two words.
1) James 2) Bond |
When I owned my bar I hated people who ordered Mojito's. They are pain in the ass to make for the bar staff, they make a mess, and 99 % of the people who ordered them were prentinous pricks trying to be cool
I put a Mango Mojito on my drink menu, just to see what type of awful people would order it. This drink was horrible! I would rather drink warm Barton's gin than it, and yet people ordered it to look cool. |
Yes man your right!
After such nasty drinks you have to :throwup
|
#47 nasty mojito's I had yet another attempt this past weekend, bejesus...
maybe in miami... |
Well all I can say is that most of the time they taste really good in cuba.
