international travelers - is first class worth the dollar opposed to business class?
ive read a few different things on the internet and some say the amenities are really not significant enough to justify the cost
i figure if youre going to be in a plane that long it is probably good to be as comfortable as possible im green to international travel i just got off probation in january so i can go to places other than canada for a change - apologies in advance for my ignorance thanks! |
its REALLY nice, but nice enough to justify $20,000 for a ticket? probably not unless you're super wealthy.
my gf works for an airline so i always fly first class for free anyway, but i couldn't ever see myself actually paying for a 1st class ticket. |
Go for the cheapest non-coach option if you have the coin. True first class is not worth it but if it's another couple hundred to put your legs up and stretch out in with your own armrests, and you can afford it, it is totally worth it.

shit dude they still had you on probation for all that stuff back in the day? thats a long time.

do they allow children in business class? my daughter is 5 but shes very well behaved

The best way to do first class is to upgrade at the counter.

I do quite a bit international travel, my husband is a FF with 3 airlines, flying 100k miles+ a year.
1st class is never worth it unless you either get an upgrade from biz, someone else pays for it, or money doesn't matter (means: if you don't have to work for it). If money really doesn't matter charter a private jet. The main pain in the ass in these days is not so much the lack of Dom Perignan during the 7-12 hours on an international flight, it is mainly delays, delayed luggage, and nazi security guards, at the airport, etc. and from all that you going to suffer, no matter if you pay 600 bucks for coach, 4 k for biz, or 10k for first. Business has advantages over coach, mainly because you can sleep and get there well rested, so you don't piss away valuable time on biz trips. If you sleep anyway, who gives a shit if you have 6 flight attendants caring for 12 passengers in first? A bigger seat, OK, that is flatter. Also, there is a big difference between First Classes. First with Singapore or Emirates is a trip, fist with AA is no big deal. Delta doesn't have first on international flights anyway. No, flying First and having to pay for it with your own, hard earned cash is not worth it. |
it seems that popular opinion would suggest i need to find some flight attendant girlfriend on the side to upgrade me at will
