GFY oparents...do you like messing with your kids' minds?

My kids and I share this odd sense of humor and love to just mess with each others' minds...we'll also keep jokes running on and on...

my latest thing is I've been threatening to ninja kick everyone in the kidney, spleen, lungs, skull, neck and jaw...there's also a running joke about how hard i had it growing up, having to walk to school in the snow, 5 miles and with various ninja attacks along the way....well, I googled and found some ninja slippers and ordered them...guess what came in the mail yesterday? :)

I even took SmokeyTheBear's phony yahoo news link and made a story about my ninja training and showed them the article...

I also have fun doing things like wrapping my sons' birthday presents with Hello Kitty wrapping paper and this past Christmas, I even jokingly switched the packages of underwear they got for Christmas, so my daughters got Transformers and my sons got Hello Kitty (I of course made sure they had the right ones later).

Anyone else do things like this? I never do anything mean or harmful or overly embarassing, but it sure is fun and gives them great stories to tell their friends, hehe

Of course, I'm sure they'll get even one day and wheel me to an empty warehouse and leave me there telling me it's a really nice nursing home ;-)

I always mess with my daughter. Not to the point of being an annoying parent but she has definitely been raised with humor. When she was little she'd get mad sometimes but then magically about 11 she developed the ability to laugh at herself. Now at 14 she has a downright brutal dry sense of humor and gets me really good.

Sounds like a fun place to live

My dad used to beat me, I beat my kids too. No fun for me, no fun for them.

hahaha
he actually got even with me last Father's Day when he (along with my sister, who was his accomplice) bought me a pink skirt and put it in a shoebox before wrapping it. Then handed it to me when we went out to dinner...and when I opened it, he said "I thought your friend John would like it too"

It was an odd mix of emotions...I was so proud of him for zinging the shit out of me like that, but I also wanted to crawl under the table and die....

I usually tell my kids that I'm going to run up there and eat their feet if they're not doing something they should be, like brushing their teeth.
I also tell them crazy things like spider bites will make them explode.

It's funny because they're both under 7 and they have to think about it for a moment to see how serious I am. I got them to a point where they can confidently discern between real and funny.

I mess with my doughter constantly cutting on her and she cuts back. She is 9. The other day she told me a story she was at school and some kid was giving her a hard time and trying to get her attention by calling her "Blondie" So she responds "Blondie is not in right now , but if you leave a message someone will get back to you", then all the kids laughed and she says to the Girl "If you call me Anna maybe I will be here" So the girl already feeling stupid says "Ok Anna?" and she says "I'm sorry Anna is not here either, try again later"

It was my proudest day as a dad.

we do have certain boundaries that we don't cross, but it's all done in fun and the kids take great delight in being able to zing dad...and I get a kick out of it too

Yep we do the same although my kids are teenagers now they tend to get the better of me all the time. My daughter caught me with a good one yesterday , she wanted a lift and I wsent to sure of which route to take to get there., so I went on to google map and asked her for the postcode and she gave me po2 fat, and there I was typing it into google not realising that the "fat" in the postcode was aimed at me as I have over the past year put a little weight on around my belly. The postcode did not even exist and I was saying the postcode is wrong and both my daughter and misses were sat on the couch laughing thier heads off It took me a couple of minutes to realise what they were laughing at..so its payback time now..
