arm swollen after IV?
Anyone here ever have an IV?
I had one a week ago because i caught some really bad virus. The thing is, the blood vessel seems really hard now, swollen, and my arm hurts from my bicep to halfway between my elbow and wrist. It hurts if i touch it, and it hurts if i extend my arm fully. I've never had an IV before. Is this normal or some sort of infection? Theres no redness or bruising. The only way to tell its swollen is touching it. You can actual feel the vessel the almost like the tendons in your arm |
ive had many and thats not normal..

Id get it checked out.
Honestly though sounds like when they were giving you the IV fluids your vein blew and all the liquid went into the surrounding tissue. It however usually goes down a bit quicker than that though. Yes I have had a shit load of IV's. |
I'd get that checked out..something doesn't sound right

if it was infected there would be redness, swelling and it would be HOT
i'd think it was a hematoma but if you said there is no brusing i dunno... |

They also could of threaded a tendon when inserting it, or fucked with other shit. I have had it all happen before. I just would never ever risk it and I would get it checked out quick. |
It was fine the day i left the hospital, and the day after it swelled up like this. It's really hard to explain, but it feels like my vein is a tendon not a vein. It feels to the touch exactly like that tendon behind your knee feels like, just smaller.

wait are you just complaining that your vein feels a bit hard and swollen and not the surrounding tissue?
|
how long was the IV in? any time its in for more than a few days that vein will feel funny for a week or so....
|
Only when I hit the wrong vein!

Nothing else looks or feels swollen other then the vessel. The IV was in for about 36 hours. |
