Buying Zimbabwean Dollars?

Anyone think it might be a good time to consider a speculation on purchase of Zimbabwean currency? With Mugabe almost certain to be out or thrown out, things can only get better from this point presumably?

Dont know the score today but in early March $1 = $25 million ZWD

Eh, no. Just - no. Unless you want to lose all your money, anyway.

Interesting idea but really speculative.

There are two trading rules I never violate.

1. Never take the opposite side of a trade of Warren Buffett
2. Never go long an African currency

Zimbabwean Money Supply.
January, 2007. 170 trillion
January, 2008 . 800 trillion

I wouldn't go long with a margin account.

Never mind but currency speculators are thieves, parasites, scum.

What do you mean? You are a currency speculator. In what currency do you keep your savings and investments?

Much better currencies have failed in the past.

If you think Zimbabwe is getting better invest in land or companies there, I know at least of one South African company that is moving there now (just bought a telecom and something in petrochemicals) you can buy their shares.

Vendot 04-02-2008 05:37 PM

Well put it this way...... lets say I convert $1000 into Zimbabwean dollars.

I get $25 billion Zimbabwean dollars.

Instant billionaire.

Read.

Such is the state of the world's most bankrupt and fiscally untenable economy. Zimbabwe's 100,000 percent inflation rate is the world's highest—a runaway train with no driver, no brakes and no limits to the train's top speed. Perhaps it's not surprising, then, that Zimbabweans have learned to cope by developing one of the world's most sophisticated black markets. If the local merchants didn't keep this economy afloat with fuel, oil, corn and the cash to fund it all, the already unstable southern African nation could slip into civil war.

hyperinflation is inflation that is "out of control," a condition in which prices increase rapidly as a currency loses its value.

Send me $1,000.00 USD and I'll send $1,000,000,000.00 Monopoly Dollars. Same logic.

:1orglaugh

i get 3 opportunities per day to invest in Costa Rican land....next it will be Zimbabwe right?

HAH!

Africa is worthless to invest in....& all the gem/oil/precious metal sites have been purchased already.

Yea I'm sure everyone is hot to invest in land thats the site of a future genocide, civil war, & a new government every 10 years uprooted in a bloody takeover. :2 cents:

Investing in the Zimbabwean economy or FX markets sounds like the kind of thing the scammers in Lagos spend their long warm nights thinking up.

The Zimbabwean dollar -- The only way is up ;)
