Im really sick of all this "The Fire Started With A Cigarette Crap"
With all the (Fire Safe Cigarette)s being distributed out there I am still hearing on the news about fires all over the country being started by Smokers!
As an avid smoker who has been smoking for over 20 something years within the last 6 months I have had very little choice on the matter of these FSC,s. Seems if fires are still being caused from smoking maybe they should take this mystery fire retardant out of my god damn tobacco and let me burn!!!!!!!! |
Two veteran fire dept. captains died in a house fire they were called to last year in Winnipeg, all started because a couple of idiot teens were smoking in the garage. My brother was a firefighter, retired now but back then it could just as easily been him.
I have no sympathy for the plight of the smoker whatsoever. |
I remember one guy who left ciggarate in his office and one million dollar office staff burned.
|
it actually sounds pretty likely that a cigarette could cause a fire...
|
your all missing the point here!
im not saying Fires are a good thing at all here and Im sorry to hear the stories of all the people and property burnt up by careless smokers sure! But some group of people out there within the last four years have passed this FSC (Fire Safe Cigarette) into a law that (all) tobacco companies have to adhere to. What I wanna know is this? 1.What is it exactly in my smokes?(Asbestos)????? 2.What can I do as a consumer and avid smoker to avoid this unwanted chemical? 3.I am a responsible smoker and why should I suffer some mystery chemical that is force fed to me by the distribution of cigarettes? 4.Think about this for a second............ Wasnt this coutry founded and funded by TOBACCO?????? Hows that for a slap in the face then because of a few fires...... 5.There are well more problems caused on the roads everyday by the use of cell phones and way more fatalities caused by that but its always been a main focus to stop cigarette use within the last 10 or so years.....Why? |
Replace "Cigarette" with "Meth" to receive the hidden message.

It's amazing how the insurance industry can ram thru legislation that will save them major bucks in claims.

Now imagine they put asbestos in your gas because it supposedly helps keep forest fires down , but you found out it really doesnt do anything at all. Would you A) stop driving ? or B) ask them to stop sticking useless dangerous stuff in your gas ? obviously cars and smokes aren't needed and both are damaging to people who dont drive/smoke, but i think you would find it quite ridiculous someone asking you to stop driving because they put dangerous chemicals in your gas, when the common sense thing would be to stop putting dangerous chemicals in the gas.:winkwink: |

1. I believe there are over 1500 chemicals in cig smoke. One more ain't gonna matter. 2. Stop smoking. 3. No body is forcing them into your mouth and lighting them. Grow your own tobacco and make your own cigs is the only alternative here. 4. A few fires? I think the figures are going to show its alot more than a few. 5. Here there is way more emphasis on ppl driving with cellphones than ciggies. In fact you are fined for driving while on the phone but driving while smoking is legal. |
fire safe cigarettes?

Come on man smoking and cars arent a very good comparison imho. Smoking is not an essential part of our lives where as cars and other forms of transport are. Fumes from cars are not acceptable but at this stage that is what we are stuck with. |

there might be over 1500 chemicals in your average tap water ( and prob is ) that doesnt mean adding 1 more ( arsenic ) isn't going to hurt . Quote:

cars are not essential , they are a luxory item meant to make our lives easier, a smoker might argue that smoking is much the same. |

What's with the shitty comparisons? Water is necessary for life, smoking is only necessary if you dig wasting money and smelling stank. I hope you're trolling. |
Maybe it's a game they are playing to see how many more harmful properties they have to put in cigarettes before people will realize that they shouldn't be smoking.
There are nearly 4000 chemicals in a cigarette. Atleast 43 of the ingredients are carcinogenic (cancer causing). Here is a sampling: Acetic Acid (Corrosive to respiratory tract) Acetone (used in nail polish removers.) Ammonia. (Used in floor and toilet cleaners) Arsenic (a poison) Cadmium (Car battery Fluid) Carbon Monoxide (interferes with the supply of oxygen in the blood to the rest of the body) DDT/ dielderon (Insecticides) Ethanol (Alcohol) Formalin (used in preserving human tissue and fabric) Hexamine (used in explosive compounds) Hydrogen Cyanide (Poison) Methane (Petroleum Gas) Naphthalene (used in moth balls) Nicotine (Schedule 6 Poison) Nitro Benzene (a petrol additive) Phenols (used in disinfectants) Stearic Acid (used in candle wax) Toluene (Industrial solvent) Vinyl Chloride (used in PVC) |

why not worry about those trivial matters first??? this country was also founded on slavery that was harvesting the tobacco.. maybe we should turn back that clock as well... just so you can rationalize your slow suicide? |

I do realize there are a number of other chemicals found in cigarettes though I have never been pissed off by smoking them. The point Im trying to make is that I think alot of the media force feeds the pubics cows! Almost six months now this FCS shit have been out there and for what? What is it actually doing for fire prevention when almost every night on the news some reporter is claiming a cigarette caused some fire somewhere? |
Ok, just aside from the health issues involved, from a very basic standpoint... how the fuck hard is it to put a cigarette out all the way? drop it in water if you have to, but shit, even a child knows how to to it. No excuse.
|
You can buy smuggled indian smokes :D
that might sound strange, but I trust the natives more than the big tobacco companies and I pay $10 a carton instead of $80. I'll tell you one thing that pissed me off the other day, I was buying a pack of cigarettes and got asked for ID, which was odd cause I'm quite a bit passed the age where I should be carded but I played along, So anyway the cashier swiped my ID and I asked what he was doing and he said that if I wanted to purchase smokes he had to do it and if I had a problem I could call Health Canada and take it up with them. Makes me wonder if they're keeping a database of smokers and will refuse healthcare to smokers in the future. |
