comcast 400 gig per month limitations - personal accounts

i suggest anyone that does content management/media related advertising quickly switch to a business account (and I'm not even sure that will fix the issue)

starting last month comcast is auditing accounts & if your modem goes over 400 gig up/down combined total a month... your modem will be disabled

the 2nd warning consists of your service being terminated for 12 months

oh & you get to sit on the phone for 3 hours (minimum) to reach their security dept

just figured i would let all of you guys know.....they fucked me & a couple people i know over

no this is not a april fools joke....its 100% real

personally they can suck my cock....we're getting fiber in our new offices & i might just go buy a pickup truck to hit cable box's with now :1orglaugh :2 cents:

Kard63 04-01-2008 12:59 PM

pornguy 04-01-2008 01:02 PM

tranza 04-01-2008 01:15 PM

That's fucked up...

But how did you manage to download/upload 400 gigs a month??????????

arial 04-01-2008 01:16 PM

So why the fuck do flaunt 14mbs down to limit you too 400GB lame.

IllTestYourGirls 04-01-2008 01:26 PM

any proof of this ie links on comcast? If not I call bs aka april fools.

dav3 04-01-2008 01:28 PM

That does suck.

woj 04-01-2008 01:28 PM

It sucks, but 400G/month is pretty significant... that's over 1Mbit/sec 24/7... under normal conditions it's pretty tough to come even close to that...

Jace 04-01-2008 01:36 PM

are you running servers from your house? jesus!

bDok 04-01-2008 09:43 PM

i upgraded my lame cox connection and still isn't fast enough for upload speed to server. I really wish FIOS was happening in my area. MAX i get 150K a second upload. fucking bullshit. I want at least 1 Mbps to my servers.

GrouchyAdmin 04-02-2008 12:01 AM

So, you were doing far more bandwidth than anybody but torrenters (read: illegal, not Linux distributions) would use, and are pissed that you got caught?

caught?

caught distributing legitimate files to work related servers

more like harassed/or falsely singled out for usage that might LOOK like "illegal" usage

anyways this was a notice for others to upgrade to a business account so they don't run into the same issues....in other words....i took one for the team & shared

you don't talk shit to people who come on GFY to help others....you encourage them :2 cents:

by the way nice whole 6 friends on your adultwhoswho....& no picture I'm not surprised usually people with your attitude wear a Moo-Moo and don't go outside

iMind 04-02-2008 12:44 AM

I dunno 400gigs from home account seems like an awful lot of bandwidth to me.

yea well you're obviously not into high definition content/marketing yet

simply uploading/transferring 88 new REGULAR dvd titles to servers would eat up 400, much less bluray etc.

ever set up a members area?

plus i have to keep tabs on outsourced employees via a live feed 24-7

security cam uplinks from the office to remote storage

VOIP transmissions

checking out the occasional documentary stream during a lunch break....watching a new music video on youtube, streaming music while i work...

etc.

it adds up when you spend 15 hours a day on a computer....i think many of you lack the dedication it takes to burn 400 gigs :1orglaugh

I agree. I'd burn that in roughly a week with data backups and the like. Thanks for the heads up Pr0.
:2 cents:

flashfire 04-02-2008 01:38 AM

I have used 400 in a month before...hd video anyone?

you guys and your 56k's

qxm 04-02-2008 02:35 AM

I need to upgrade my puny 500GB hard drive to burn that much......glad I'm not with comcast though.....

bigalownz 04-02-2008 03:44 AM

didnt they have some thing about p2p being caped?

may be thats why

i dont know about the usa

but here and aussie most isp's plans have data caps
then you pay for extra for every gb over

But were you on a business account? Going over 400 gigs a month is pretty damn extreme on a personal account. If it's a biz account then I feel yea but if you are just using a personal account and burning that much B/W hell I'd disable your modem too.

I'm not a fan of comcast, but cable is a shared system.. if you are using that much B/W then you are affecting everyone in your local area.

stickyfingerz 04-03-2008 12:50 PM

Ive probably done well over 400gb at certain points, but dont hit that on a regular basis. And having been a customer of theirs for over 8 years between "@home" and then comcast when they go bought out. And I had the "gold Tier" package for years before they came out with the newer cheaper package at 52.00 a month. I used to pay 120.00 a month just for internet for years. I added it up one time what I had payed them and its probably somewhere around 15,000.00. So if they shut me off now I would be VERY VERY pissed lol.

Makingcoin 04-03-2008 01:25 PM

Thanks for the info, why don't you tards read the thread before posting.

Barefootsies 04-03-2008 03:34 PM

I posted this warning a week or two back. No one cares.

Guess should have posted "Would you hit it" with a picture of Comcast HQ.

farkedup 04-04-2008 07:42 AM

its not a big deal, I know that I use a LOT of bandwidth so went straight to a business account when I set shit up. download a single HD movie every day and its easy to go beyond that. I've had 8-12Mb downloading constantly for the past 13 days now.

I think they get more pissed about uploads than downloads.
