cracked windshield on a airplane? WTF

I was going to pick up a brand new 18 year old from LAX coming from New York. I tell girls if they don’t call me from inside the gate of the airport and I can hear the overhead I am not driving to pick them up! Its sad I have to be like this but girls are so flaky. Anyways she calls me and tells me she is getting on the plane and then 4 hours later she calls and said she is in Philadelphia WTF. Story is that the plane had a cracked windshield and circled around for hours and landed there. So she was stuck at the airport and she is flew out at 9am and getting to Burbank at 3pm today! I thought I have heard them all but never a cracked windshield on a plane? Is this bullshit or real? I will keep you posted on this story.

GrouchyAdmin 03-31-2008 02:09 PM

Better yet, post it in your fucking blog.

donnylong 03-31-2008 02:10 PM

Also she claims she had to spend the night at the airport last night?

Sounds more honest.

If your that interested and you did fly her out, can you not call the airline and confirm the issue?

Donny you still can fucking call and find out.
Just use some BS fucking excuse, or call your model and get her flight info.

I would just typically use the my wife/daughter/niece/etc was supposed to arrive today. She left (airport) on the (flight time) and I am concerned. Can you tell me if anything happened with the plane such as a layover or something.

A cracked windshield wouldn't be impossible, but I'm wondering why they'd need to circle? Surely it would be more important to get it onto the ground as soon as possible. If it's a full tank fuel issue then they could have dumped it.

There was an incident with an aircraft in the late 80s (from memory) where a replacement windshield was not properly fitted, and one of the pilots was sucked out in mid air. They managed to hold onto his feet and he survived.

So what's the story with the model? :)

not really sure! she said the plane couldnt fully pressurize because of a crack in the windshield. I picked her up at burbank tonight so I will post pix soon!

AdPatron 03-31-2008 09:50 PM

Who really gives a shit?

farkedup 03-31-2008 10:05 PM

if a plane can't properly pressurize you don't get off the ground. I've taxi'd a runway for an hour just to have to go back and exit the plane because a door hadn't sealed properly so we couldn't pressurize properly so they simply wouldn't let us off the ground.

HouseHead 03-31-2008 10:08 PM

i dont know, what do you think :thumbsup

who 03-31-2008 10:09 PM

Airplane windshields aren't made of glass.

Some Guy 03-31-2008 10:10 PM

It's probably true. Shit goes wrong with planes all the time these days, and we all know how fucked-up the airlines are. I think if she were going to make up a story, she'd come up with something better than that. It's so asinine, it's gotta' be true.

Apparently cold weather can cause cracks in an airplane's windshield. Lovely.

Fizzgig 04-01-2008 12:53 AM

I found a great gag at the dollar stor a couple of days ago; It was half a hockey puck with spiderwebbed clear plastic all around it that you can stick on a windshield.

Imagine putting THAT on a plane!
