pizza.com on auction at sedo $2.5million

pizza.com is currently on auction at sedo and the price stands at over $2.5million and there's still 3 days to go. that sounds way over priced if you ask me.

camgirlshide 03-30-2008 11:40 AM

did someone bid that or is that the starting number?

sevent 03-30-2008 11:42 AM

Why? How big is the Pizza business? How much would it be worth to own the category leading name forever? Or to direct what must be thousands of potential online delivery orders every day? Price seems quite reasonable to me.

It is going to get a lot bigger than that! Domino's, Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Little Caesar's, Roundtable, CPK et al will all be bidding.

Fap 03-30-2008 11:49 AM

NOT way over priced at all if you ask me. Perfect domain.. "hey i want pizza.. pizza.com"

DateDoc 03-30-2008 11:52 AM

The people bidding pay that much for a 30 second Super Bowl commercial. This is still a good buy to them.

Jai 03-30-2008 11:54 AM

sedo is full of shitttttt 99% of the time

Iron Fist 03-30-2008 11:54 AM

anyone with a national pizza chain will be very interested in that domain... 2.5 million compared to some advertising budgets of those chains is a drop in the bucket...

crockett 03-30-2008 12:35 PM

Seems to me that is pretty damn low.. A major company would think nothing of spending 2.5 million for a prime location to build a brick and mortar store.

For Pizza's there can't be any better location on the net than that..

By jove, that seems like a perfect domain to sell pickles.
What about beer?
Brilliant!
Brilliant!

alexweb 03-30-2008 12:57 PM

2.5 mil is not over priced

Mutt 03-30-2008 12:57 PM

it's a bargain i think at that price.

imagine developing that site so anybody anywhere in the world can order a pizza from his pick of pizza shops in every city and town in the world.

xxxRumor 03-30-2008 01:14 PM

$2.5 million is pocket change for big corps.

Dominos for exampe:

advertising spending over the past five years

That's what I was thinking. Something like http://www.just-eat.com but geared towards the American market should do well with a domain like that.

Sly 03-30-2008 01:26 PM

Last night I was watching a show about pizza in the United States. Not only is it the second favorite food of Americans... the frozen pizza industry alone is worth over $3 billion a year just in the United States.

That domain is gold. It could go so many different ways.

Pizza Hut probably has the most money behind them... Pepsi should be gobbling that up.

KILL_FRENZY 03-30-2008 02:04 PM

impressive :)

themonk 03-30-2008 02:12 PM

or right now!

sevent 04-03-2008 08:37 AM

2 hours left in the auction. Up to 2.6MM now. n5.com looks like a good deal too at 20k. Not many 2 char names for that price.

webair 04-03-2008 09:28 AM

worth every penny!

fris 04-03-2008 09:33 AM

1 hour and 27 mins left

soulboy 04-03-2008 09:36 AM

it looks so overpriced to me

Eriic 04-03-2008 10:12 AM

It is very reasonable. It's worth way more than 2.5 mill.

karlm 04-03-2008 10:14 AM

That seems like a great price but what would i know lol

ztik 04-03-2008 10:17 AM

2.5 is worth it as long as one of the major players buys it

less than 20 mins to go

DateDoc 04-03-2008 11:02 AM

Looks like it sold for $2,605,000 :)

woj 04-03-2008 11:15 AM

That's a pretty fair price for someone who is in the pizza biz :thumbsup

Matt 26z 04-03-2008 11:24 AM

Congrats to the winners!

tiger 04-03-2008 11:42 AM

They spend that much on 1 or 2 ads. Why wouldn't it be worth it for them to get the best domain for their biz.
