yes, i'm a newbie

now i'm watching stomper's video courses and they are using MS frontpage. But i thought that Dreamweaver is better. So, now i'm wondering...

psili 03-30-2008 09:49 AM

If I had only those two choices, I'd use Dreamweaver, hands down.
My preference is Eclipse, though.

nylonbabes 03-30-2008 09:49 AM

Dreamweaver , have never used frontpage :)

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 03-30-2008 09:50 AM

I've been using Dreamweaver since 3 came out and I don't plan to change anytime soon.

tony286 03-30-2008 09:51 AM

ok, if not these two choices, what else?

gideongallery 03-30-2008 09:51 AM

expression is better than both of these products

who 03-30-2008 09:52 AM

Yes don't EVER use Frontpage. EVER. Dreamweaver is the way to go. It makes things a lot better and doesn't add a bunch of bullshit MS standards drivel into your code like Frontpage does. Oh also, Frontpage is a pile of shit.

munki 03-30-2008 09:52 AM

Dreamweaver is a far more robust program. Frontpage, although easier to learn for a newb, will severly limit and hinder your forward progress...

Get yourself a few good html, and layout/design based Dreamweaver books, and you will be much better off in the long run

Zuzana Designs 03-30-2008 09:52 AM

I used frontpage when I first started but quickly dropped it for dreamweaver. I could never go back to frontpage again

http://www.eclipse.org/ with the PHP and web developer plugins. That, and it's free.

cayme 03-30-2008 10:00 AM

If u use another product, not only one of these two, please write it ;)

thehand 03-30-2008 10:03 AM

I used FP in 98, I didn't think they even had a 08 version. .... use DW.

amateur-skin 03-30-2008 10:05 AM

Farang 03-30-2008 10:21 AM

Dreamweaver is better imo

Xniphobe 03-30-2008 10:45 AM

Is FrontPage still being updated? Anyhow, I'm currently using both Dreamweaver and Microsoft Expression Web. Have to say I greatly prefer Dreamweaver. It looks to me like they both have basically the same capacities, but Dreamweaver is just much easier to use...stuff on Expression Web is a pain in the ass to find.

Fap 03-30-2008 10:46 AM

dreamweaver... obviously

Yngwie 03-30-2008 10:48 AM

If I had to chose between the 2 I would chose Dreamweaver, but I use Macromedia Homesite 5.5

u-Bob 03-30-2008 10:50 AM

any decent texteditor....

VeriSexy 03-30-2008 11:57 AM

iheartbucks 03-31-2008 10:03 PM

I used Frontpage for years to learn, now I'm using Dreamweaver and it's really a lot better once you learn it and get used to it, you'll laugh at FP

woj 03-31-2008 10:15 PM

Frontpage is for newbs...

morningstar 03-31-2008 10:17 PM

DreamWeaver, more tight at hand..

Flymaster 04-01-2008 12:47 AM

only Dreamweaver

Jace 04-01-2008 12:49 AM

Dreamweaver CS3 and it ROCKS

qxm 04-01-2008 12:54 AM

DW CS3 + Notepad rock!

Jens Van Assterdam 04-01-2008 12:54 AM

dreamweaver all the way :)

Yoni 04-01-2008 03:20 AM

dreamweaver
Check Namo Web Editor, if you're a newbie. It's cheap in comparison to DW, but looks and works alike.

Sam Granger 04-01-2008 03:50 AM

I never really use any special programs. I always code by hand, sometimes in notepad, sometimes in PHPDesigner 2008. But if I'd have to choose between Microcrud Frontpage or Adobe Dreamweaver, I'd say Dreamweaver all the way. Way better!! :thumbsup

Johnny G 04-01-2008 04:14 AM

For design I prefer DreamWeaver, FireWorks, and PhotoShop. However FrontPage is handy for some quick editing or updates because you work directly with the server files. I don't think Microsoft is planning any new versions of FrontPage. As others have mentioned, FrontPage inserts some of its own code into your HTML and can cause problems if the page design did not originate in FrontPage. Try to avoid the FrontPage Bots.

viencarl 04-01-2008 04:17 AM

me Dreaweaver since my college days :):):)

bufferover 04-01-2008 04:20 AM

Dreamweaver all the way
