well think about it... google hasnt done anything new and spectacular to their search in a long time... if someone comes around, provides the same or better results, in a better way... then man... google should be worried..

XMaster 03-27-2008 05:45 PM

remind me iphone

Eman - PG 03-27-2008 05:46 PM

They will just get bought out by Google, Yahoo or Microsoft

pr0 03-27-2008 05:48 PM

It might look like a novel "toy" to some people out there.

But to those who see the future of the web already in their mind....this is a major step in the right direction.

Visual results is where its at in web 2.0/3.0

Domestic designer/programmers have secure jobs for the next decade or so I'd say : )

dropped9 03-27-2008 05:50 PM

you got it right pro... visual everythingg is where its at... with bandwidth prices dropping, home connections speeding up, visual is coming...

Swish 03-27-2008 05:50 PM

Looks cool, but started kicking a bunch of errors about the Flash Debugger after a second :(

BJ 03-27-2008 05:53 PM

firefox has a plugin that lets you do pretty much the same thing with google results

tiger 03-27-2008 06:08 PM

Very cool and yes this "could" be very popular.

The key is getting good results. Doesn't matter how nice the presentation is if their results blow.

I doubt Google needs to worry though. The hard part of this is already done if Google wanted to implement it. All they would need to do is make a visual front end. They already have the best search results, etc.

Rhesus 03-27-2008 06:14 PM

Snap.com

StarkReality 03-27-2008 06:20 PM

Looks great, definitely has alot of potential...as far as google is concerned: They won't care, if they see it growing successfully, they'll go and buy it.

That's the real problem about google, they can buy any promising project or possible competitor, they have billions to spend.

payd2purv 03-27-2008 11:50 PM

If i was the art director at Apple i'd be pissed off right about now.

who 03-28-2008 01:03 AM

It's a very nice idea. The search results are absolutely demented, though.

crockett 03-28-2008 06:31 AM

That one looks pretty cool, but the best SE technology I've seen yet, was a engine that linked all the pages together something like this is doing. It gave a preview and then showed lines to other pages that site linked to. So you could click and grab any of the sites and bring it to the front.

You could see how all the sites linked together around the web in theory anyway. Was pretty cool shit but they ended up not developing for the web, and rather it's used the technology for software used by the FBI and police depts.

xmas13 03-28-2008 06:41 AM

Useless. Google doesn't have to worry with such lame competitors.

xmas13 03-28-2008 06:45 AM

Google server farm was estimated to have 500 000 custom-built units as of 2007.

KILL_FRENZY 03-28-2008 08:36 AM

awesome :thumbsup:thumbsup

CyberHustler 03-28-2008 09:02 AM

I'd like to know how they would combat spam, other than drastically limit their results to "authority" type sites. Really, how would they keep the average idiot searching on their site when their results start getting flooded with thousands of pages of "visually presented" seo spam pages.

Nice looking tool though, I'll add it to my list along with PicLens.

tranza 03-28-2008 10:53 AM

Looks AWESOME!!

:)

martinsc 03-28-2008 11:06 AM

i'm in the beta and i love playing with it :)

carol.prime 03-28-2008 11:28 AM

that was cool.. :thumbsup

Wagerboy 03-28-2008 11:46 AM

looks cool but the search results were just horrible. at least for porn keywords

nikad 03-28-2008 12:00 PM

very nice =)

Ayla_SquareTurtle 03-28-2008 12:06 PM

well, it looks cool visually but that's about the extent of it for me. I don't like slidey/rolley type navigation things. (don't really know what to call that) Text on a page is exactly what I want and I don't see myself using anything that looks like searchme.com for anything other than a novelty. I guess I'm too set in my ways for the next generation of the internet. <insert crotchety old lady fist shake here>
