Seagull Eats Crackers from my Hand (PIC)

The pic quality is crappy, screen cap from a home video filmed with my poopy handycam. The content, I think, was worth sharing though.

These birds have skills!

dav3 03-27-2008 01:24 PM

I was lucky enough to not get shit on, this time.

GrouchyAdmin 03-27-2008 01:25 PM

If they shit on you, you'd be significantly less filthy than coming in contact with those fucking winged rats.

Your 10,000th post. Time to be green!

There were a few black birds there doing the same thing. They have nowhere near the superb flight control of the seagull though. The black birds would brush their claws on your hand when they swoop on the cracker. That was kinda scary.

The seagulls though, they don't even touch you. Plus, if you throw a cracker in the air, they will catch it! Being there and seeing how precise they are when they are in flight, it's really cool. They might be dirty birds, but they have amazing flight control abilities.

I'm still editing the video and playing around with rendering it to a reasonable file size, so I can throw it up on youtube.

This is a tipical postcard in Lake Nahuel Huapi, Bariloche, Argentina.
When you do the lake excursion, hundreds of seagulls follow the catamaran because they know people will feed them with cookies.
I lived in Bariloche for more than 10 years and we used to buy cookies just to feed the seagulls and film or take a good picture.
Unfortunately I don't have any pics with me to share. :Oh crap

AdPatron 03-28-2008 09:31 AM

This location is probably pretty similar. It's on a car ferry on the coast of NC. The few times I've been on the ferry, during the day, the seagulls have always followed it expecting to be fed. Previous times, they were barely able to catch a cracker thrown into the air. Them eating from your hand in mid-flight, on a moving ferry, was new to me. Makes me wish that I had a better vidcam.

It's 20 minutes from my home. Although, we did recently move to this area.
