Any updated wordpress and had their categories gone?
 

Had some problems with a blog this morning when I couldn't login to admin, it said my database was out of date. So I backup the db, try updating wp etc and it seemed to fuck other things up. Host did a good job of getting me back up and running and new WP on, but now all my categories are gone and like 600 posts are all uncategorized etc. I have links coming into certain articles etc so now those are just redirected to the index page with htaccess.

Anyone ever have this happen and possibly know of a solution? I can't seem to pull anything up on the backup I did that has anything about the wp_terms etc in it.

Did you do "Add DROP Tables"? I remember having that issue once, I think thats what I was doing wrong. It was a while ago so I don't remember. If it isn't too late to backup the db again, check Add DROP tables (If you didn't the first time) and see if it fixes the issue.

Same thing happened to me before, I just rolled back to previous backup.

Did you manually check the DB tables ? Maybe you just need to re-name it, had a similar issue with a digg clone.

too late to go back and check the box. whoops. lesson learned. Time to throw 600 posts into categories and give them tags. yay me
