Do sponsors really think domains called hugejugswomenlovebigdicksandcumshots.com...

Is going to convert? Seriously, lose the 20+ character fricken domain names already. Useless. :disgust

GrouchyAdmin 03-22-2008 08:19 PM

Because sponsors get their major conversion rates on blind type-ins..

CunningStunt 03-23-2008 01:17 AM

Seriously, some sponsors need to wise the fuck up. No-one in their right mind is going to sign up with a paysite with a domain name that long.

SmutGiant 03-23-2008 02:53 AM

As long as the site delivers content wise, i don't think a long domain name will affect conversions much.

As an affiliate (provided the content peaks the surfer's interest enough), it actually may be better for the paysite to have a longer domain, increasing the chance of getting a bookmark with your embedded ref code as opposed to the surfer remembering porn.com or whatever and coming back to sign up after the cookie's expired.

If you are talking about the new pimproll site BigTitsLikeBigDicks than I can tell you you are wrong. A simple look at the stats tells me a long domain name is not doing any harm. No diffrence in stats between that one and porn.com for us anyways.

Now if you were talking about type ins though...

I was about to say the EXACT same thing

snaker 03-23-2008 03:41 PM

so long as the content is unique perhaps

Wagerboy 03-23-2008 03:42 PM

If I was a surfer, I wouldnt give a fuck about the name. Its the content I would think. I think NON-sponsors with names that long is kinda tough tho.

I agree that there are LOTS of USELESS domain-names in those niches lately, but I dont think the surfers care. If you buy a memberspass, you get the username and password in your email, and can access it from there. No need for remembering.

Actually affiliates should be damn fucking ecstatic if a sponsor chooses a long url. They are less likely to just remember it and type it in, bypassing your damn code. Specially if they do not sign up the very first time. Thus they very well could come back the way they came or use a damn bookmark after finding the page.

Domains do not convert, domains just impress the same webmasters that demand to use the ultra slick high cost flashy tour instead of the 1997 looking gawd awful a color blind retard assembled in front page that still happens to convert better than the flashy one.

Why's that then? I don't think I've heard anything so ridiculous all year, and I have to get through a few Markham posts during the course of my board reading. Surfer sees promo ad/page/blurb, clicks through, sees tour, likes content, has hard cock & CC ready then says aw shucks, this site has a url over 18 characters long. Oh well, time to look for another site to join.

Righto.

Our domains do just fine.
