Starting to produce content

Hello all,

I am starting an adult company and I am looking for anybody that I can speak with that has some knowledge on the initial steps to get started and be successful.

My story:
I have worked in commercial and feature film for a few years, I have all the necessary equipment and crew toproduce great content, I have recently met a model that is 18 years old, willing to sign a contract and do adult work. I also have the people to design the sites and build the Admin for all the membership sections, and people that push traffic. I have taken step in getting an account with Visa and CC Bill.

What I need is someone with the knowledge and experience to talk with and guide me in the next steps.

Well don't start out with soo many hands in the cookie jar....unless it starts out as a side project. Continue with the commercial and features. If you have a girl that says she will do it....Do not hesitate otherwise you will masterbate...start doing something with her at once. Get her to feel more natural around the camera.

Good Luck

It must be getting really hard for content producers to come up with new poses and situations. Everything's been done over and over.

DBS.US 03-21-2008 06:50 PM

You about five years to late, but good luck:thumbsup

tony286 03-21-2008 06:52 PM

good luck to you.

Pauldarian 03-21-2008 06:56 PM

contact me lets talk

JustDaveXxx 03-21-2008 07:05 PM

I dont recommend it!! But if you really want to, i recommend you go and be an assistant for a year for a content producer before you waste your time and money.

I assisted for 2 years before i stepped out on my own. I did every job. C-light, photography, video direction, editing, then content production.

You need to be the nail before you can be the hammer!!

I do wish you luck!! no disrespect...

You might want to talk to Donny Long. He's the top content producer in Porn Valley... simple!

NaughtyRob 03-21-2008 07:17 PM

that's so funny to me... the guys I know that started when I did and before, we all do everything. we all started as photographers shooting film, they didn't even really have video on the internet.

we would all send our film to Denver digital, or to the client and they would send it in to Denver digital.

we went digital in 2001, so we all learned about Photoshop, storing and jerking a round with digital files etc. in about 2002-2003 we were starting to get asked about video, so we learned to shoot and edit video.

these new content guys don't really seem to know shit about anything. they hire people to do everything it seems. what a fucking hoot.

so anyway have fun... you have no idea the ride you're in for as a content shooter, and no fucking idea how much aggravation you're in for. the models are crazy as hell, the pimps are mean and dishonest. but really gets me, what really drains my energy is solving tech problems all day long. it's always something.

Sounds to me like you may be a bit top heavy at the moment. No crew no production guys, just you a partner a camera and a hole sounds a bit more feasible. Good luck though :)

After Shock Media 03-21-2008 11:02 PM

Well I should probably tell you right now that those models who sign contracts... well contracts really mean shit. Er... less than shit as at least shit can be used to produce something else of value, a signed contract on the other hand is just really rough toilet paper. If you really put any faith beyond scare tactics into a contract you will end up crushed.

Next up is that you say you got ball started with ccbill and visa. You are aware that they will want to see the content and a working site before they approve you. So unless you have that already, you are just giving them a 750.00 interest free loan while you wait.

Where to start: Honestly read up and learn the legal issues from pandering and 2257 to zoning. Then follow that up with how you will handle them, specially record keeping. After that get yourself a worthy model agreement and then get some people to pose for you. Sell, license, or self use and repeat.

Quoted for truth! :thumbsup

I still do almost everything myself after nearly nine years in the biz, although I now hire other photographers and video shooters, as well as production assistants for content shoots.

I'm planning to hire another person to help with post-production, since I will have new sites coming out in the near future, and want to be able to have some semblence of a social life.

Cozy Academy is a good starting point, as are YnotMasters, Xbiz, and other sites that have tutorials, tips, and helpful columns.

Good luck on your journey...

I'm not sure if this was sarcasm or if you're an idiot.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and go with sarcasm though. :thumbsup

Let's put it this way, Aaron: Donny seemed to think my comment was serious... and that's all that counts, right?

Nice post, Brian... you and I go back as far as 2000/2001, and things have really changed over the years. The price of digital equipment has fallen as the cameras, etc., have gotten better. Now any halfwit with $1500 can call himself a photographer; and any moron with $2500 is a director. Sic transit gloria mundi . . . .

Whatever you do.....DO not listen to the negative non-talented fucktards who will try to discourage your from your goal in shooting content.

I ignored them and blew right past those cockroaches within 2 years time:thumbsup Eat my dust bitches, the nursing home is calling you :321GFY:321GFY:321GFY

We've been producing original content since '99 - and these days we (wife and I) handle every aspect of our own operation (photography, post-editing, website admin, marketing, etc.) - as someone said above...keep as many hands outta the cookie jar.

It can be both rewarding and frustrating - depending on your mentality and aptitude. Models are often fun to work with...and sometimes a royal PITA. Post-editing can eat up a ton of time depending on the quality you wish to reflect in your final product.

The biggest trick will be to come up with a (somewhat) unique idea or twist on a concept. A signature look or style. The industry always has enough lemmings and bandwagon hoppers.

Good luck with yer endeavours.

The successful ones are those who persevere in the face of initial failure and adversity (cliche, but true).

it's not too late if you have something good - be it a great model or shoot unique content.

hell look at donnylong - nothing unique and the same models everybody else shoots plus a reputation he's built as an idiot on GFY and he seems to be making a living.

Red Ezra 03-22-2008 04:52 PM

alrighty then

Print this out, tape it to your bathroom mirror and read it every morning. BMB preaches correct, it is always something. For me the tech part is a joy, its the model/pimp drama I wish I could do without.
