DrinkingHardest and Supporting Tubes

I've read a bit of the drama, and I have to wonder...

Seems like people are up in arms, and are saying they REFUSE to support any company that advertises on a tube site with illegal, stolen content. Some are even calling for boycotts of those who do advertise there.

Got me thinking.. Google is the biggest supporter of EVERY kind of pirate site, right? We've all seen the torrent sites, P2P's and surfer boards like PeachyForum and NastyBoards pretty much dominating the serps.

Hell, most of the top 100 for porn terms have tons of "crack, warez, torrent" etc spam sites too.

So are you all going to stop using AdWords? Has anyone written to Google about why they keep ranking these sites so high?

aico 03-20-2008 03:40 PM

What does using Adwords have to do with buying ad spots on illegal sites from a company selling ad spots on illegal sites?

It's supporting a company that supports illegal copyright theft. I'm surprised you two couldn't connect those dots.

Mutt 03-20-2008 03:42 PM

Google is a behemoth, they are not part of our industry - outrage against Google by a board of pornographers is useless and futile.

It's more or less choosing your battles wisely.

hehe I get that.. I was just throwing it out there..

I'm not saying they're the same, but there are some similarities.

It seems people are all up in arms, but only when they can get something, or "make a difference"

The biggest threat to our industry is losing the serps to these kinds of sites, yet I doubt anyone here has even written a letter to Google.

Google doesn't give any revenue from Adwords to tube sites. GTS pays the tube sites for those spots.

Hmmm.... ever hear of Perfect 10 v. Google?

Now, Norm Zada doesn't post here (that I'm aware of, at least) -- but that case demonstrates that someone from within the adult industry has, in fact, raised the issue of copyright infringement with respect to Google. :winkwink:

but google hasnt based their business model around stealing content

MattO 03-20-2008 04:19 PM

YES!! Boycot Google!!! I'm adding nofollow, nocache, noindex and noarchive to my sites right now!

Socks 03-20-2008 04:28 PM

Well that's kinda my point in a sense MattO.. If there is enough money, do you really care where it comes from? It's the same kind of attitude that the tube owners are using right now.

Just seems to me that Google is the biggest offender, and could clean up their system really easily, but it would offend the average user, and they would lose some market share.

I think the same arguments above apply to the tubes too. They could clean up their long stolen content, but they would risk losing some market share.

CyberHustler 03-20-2008 04:46 PM

Are you comparing a search engine to an illegal tube site?

Socks 03-20-2008 04:52 PM

Illegal Tube Site A has a bunch of stolen shit.

Illegal Tube Site A is ranking highly for all kinds of porn terms in the SERPS

Google is turning a blind eye to the blatant copyright infringement of Site A.

Site A is getting 40-60% of their traffic from Google.

Everyone is mad at Site A, calling to boycott anyone and everything that has to do with it.

Nobody is saying shit about or to Google about it, even though half the people watching said stolen content are doing so because of Google's lax stance, and found the site through their search engine.

Where is the anger towards Google? Without their support of these sites, this problem would be cut in about half I'd say.

So whose going to boycott Google here?

Nobody. Because if it pays you, you'd be stupid to turn off the money fountain.

I'm seeing hypocrisy.

Well, in contrast to tubes the business model of google isn't built on theft and exploiting legal loopholes. :helpme

Dude, just quit before you dig a deeper hole, you fucked up, shit happens... just move on dude... there is no way you will convince anyone here that google is in any way similar to an illegal tube site...

I would argue the opposite.

Do a search. Look at all the warez/torrent/crack/password trading sites that all appear top 100.

Do you think Google hasn't built their business on offering these kinds of sites to surfers, even at a premium it seems?

Would it not be very easy for google to penalize sites that have "warez" "cracks" "torrents" etc in their title tags, and all over their pages?

They don't. If they did, you'd make more money. We all would.

So help yourself honestly if you can't see this. :)

lolz.. oh nooo! What will I doooo! ;)

I guess if everyone here thinks it's amazing that Google fills the pockets of the illegal site owners here, then errmmmmm..

I believe hes comparing google to GTS, but still... all the same ending ;)

Brujah 03-20-2008 05:06 PM

Socks, but Google will be legit in 6 months. So hush. :)

CyberHustler 03-20-2008 05:07 PM

Would be cool if a rep from google came on the boards with a rogue indexing spider excuse though... "sorry guys but google bot did a no-no and indexed your protected members area and started sharing your content on google videos"

Nothing but it gives Socks a chance to play devils advocate.

Instead of focusing on the issue at hand there is always someone who has to say but... but... but what about what the that other guy is doing. FUCK what anyone else is doing. The issue here concerns the adult industry. :2 cents:
