Do you earn more or less money than 1 year ago ?

see title

klinton 03-20-2008 04:16 AM

20 % less

After Shock Media 03-20-2008 04:24 AM

I earn more but I also am working a hell of a lot more than last year as well. Though last year sucked ass for me health wise. Yet my ass got handed to me a few days ago when I learned I needed to hook up two rental units to the city sewer system. That was a quick way to put out over 30k and never ever see any value from it really, ok maybe a tiny bit if I ever sell but honestly I will not and even if I did it would be minimal.

pornmasta 03-20-2008 04:31 AM

more but i'm working more...

Klen 03-20-2008 04:39 AM

I earn much much more but again not enough yet.

well yeah, but you're a new guy, so you can be easily growing even if the industry is in decline (i remember reading a few months ago that 2007 was the first year where online porn sales were in decline, not sure how accurate that information was)

in fact anyone can still increase their income and market share even if the overall industry sales are declining... but assuming they are indeed declining, then if the number of webmasters stays the same, then there must be many who suffer from income loss

Crappy exchange = less

CarlosTheGaucho 03-20-2008 06:46 AM

About the same but there are good things in prospect.

RadiantX 03-20-2008 06:55 AM

my sales suck this year. my income has dropped 20% despite a 40% increase in traffic. I dont know if its because of the shitty economy w/ folks saving their money or just an increase in competition. :disgust

IllTestYourGirls 03-20-2008 06:57 AM

More but I am new :thumbsup

Zester 03-20-2008 07:01 AM

this year I managed to work less and smarter
experience I think.
but it's not much more than last year because of the fucking dollar downfall

nico-t 03-20-2008 07:11 AM

more even though the dollar became hella shittier... hope dollar will go back up soon

woj 03-20-2008 08:08 AM

RadiantX 03-20-2008 08:12 AM

nice to know everyone is making more this year but me! LOL

at least its encouraging to know the economy isnt hitting the adult industry as hard as expected

Xrated J 03-20-2008 08:21 AM

if your income isnt going up from year to year, your doin somthin wrong

CurrentlySober 03-20-2008 08:22 AM

Slightly less, but down to the exchange rate.

RadiantX 03-20-2008 08:23 AM

Well according to my top 3 sponsors (primarily cams) who I keep in close contact with.....they said the drop in earnings is across the board. Which led me to believe it was due to the state of the economy. Guess its time to venture out into other genres of the adult biz....

tranza 03-20-2008 08:44 AM

Pretty much the same because of the weak dollar. Otherwise I would be making more.

lhizy_05 03-20-2008 08:49 AM

:thumbsup happy to say earn more, not bad...:thumbsup

Diligent 03-23-2008 06:02 PM

More, but less in adult...

Declines in adult bothered me a couple of years ago, but now doesn't.
On the contrary actually, since;

I've seen some negative trends (which both I myself and others have foreseen) blooming more the past two years or so... so due to worries back then I decided
to do some planning for other stuff, and that stuff is bearing fruit enough now for me to get into that full force - so it's pretty good.

I hated the idea of being "locked into" adult when things started slowing down and got more demanding.
I prefer to only do whatever I do if I can see viability in it for me, for at least say.. 5 years ahead.
Adult for the most part just isn't cutting it enough for me anymore.

Hints for anyone interested, and this is the only thing I'll ever mention about it except for close old friends:

* Move within more classic "offline" business, which *can* be implemented online in new ways, or at least benefit substantially in any way from an online presence.
* Promote other businesses less, promote Yours more.
* DO use advertisers on Your stuff, but know *Your* customers well and make sure You don't let potential competitors slip into the advertising.

If You're "elite" in SEO, and think You can stay that way no matter what, I think You can still work with pretty much anything...
Otherwise I'd advise anyone asking to rethink the viability of their affiliate promotion business model (as in promoting other programs).

I've doubled sales every year the past three. This year is already off to a good start.

I always wondered why many on gfy keep claiming they are losing their ass with each new year?

:2 cents:

Barefootsies:
Of course it all depends much on what exactly You're doing - I have no idea whether You're working more, or refined Your "production" - maybe without even noticing..

I'm just talking out of my own perspective; what I've been doing keeps getting more demanding, thus I have to work harder to compensate.
And that doesn't fit in with *how I* want to work, so I'd be dumb to not get into other stuff.

For all You who keep doing better in adult, I salute You.. ;)
Keep rockin' it!

I am getting into other stuff, mainstream, as well. So I do not think the future is secure in adult. I basically use it to finance other ventures online, and not while the going is good.

I work a LOT less that I did last year, or 3, 5, 10 years ago. Back then it was 7 days a week, 12-18 hour days (when started full time online 4+ years ago and left the 9-5). When I was working the 9-5, it was still the long work days. Come home, work on adult until I passed out.

Now, between scripts, and refining where I spend my time and energy. I work about 1-2 hours a day, if that, 5 days a week. This doesn't include doing photo shoots. Just the maintaining. But I work a lot less, and make more.

But as you pointed out, maybe a lot of it is just knowing where to put my time and investment. Versus chasing your tail throwing money and time at everything hoping enough shit will stick.

Fap 03-23-2008 09:42 PM

more more def more

Lykos 03-23-2008 10:13 PM

TheMaster 03-26-2008 10:34 AM

BradM 03-26-2008 10:48 AM

WZRogeR 03-26-2008 11:09 AM

Scott McD 03-26-2008 11:13 AM

It's hard to tell when you have good months and bad months...

It's because of the economy, the USD, and jackasses ripping and posting whole sites on Rapidshare. I've been trying to point that problem out for a year in here but nobody seems to give a rats ass. Why pay if you can download 10 terrabytes for free every day?

I make approx. the same but with a lot more work. I also have a loyal fan base, both in the US and Europe with my main sites, so I don't depend that much on traffic and conversions.

Many of those who were earning less are not posting anymore.

marko13 03-26-2008 12:57 PM

pornguy 03-26-2008 01:01 PM

More. And I hope to add to it.

Nookster 03-26-2008 01:07 PM

Working less and making more. Mainstream has always been my bread and butter. Adult though, I'm making just a slight bit more than last year so far.
