The Dow Jones has shit itself

The Dow Jones closed down 215 points today finishing at 7,286.

Two and a half years ago it was around 11,500.

Where will it all end?

frankfortuna 10-09-2002 10:12 PM

I don't suspect it will until investors adopt realistic earnings expectations.

it will end when the price of gold is equal to the dow.

Happened circa 1980.

So - the USD has got to shit the bed (major inflation) and the dow has to shit the bed.

Both are happening pretty good now. Its a 25-30 year cycle.

What, you think a nasdaq100 trading at least double historical p/e ratios with no optimistic forward earnings is unrealistic??? Where's your enthusiasm?:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I've done a fair bit of investing in shares and even tried to day trade for a while. If there is ONE lesson I have learned about the stock market it is this:

Never try to catch a falling knife.

True, but i have no problem catching a knife when its on the floor or dropped from 6 inches above the floor.

I "believe" the market can only go so far down before more and more people realize the bargains to be had. Plus, in my mind, worst case scenario is a 10 year market slump where it basically flatlines, but the market should be long term anyway.
