Linux webservers hacked more than windows in 2007
Breakdown of website defacing by OS and attack type:
http://www.zone-h.org/content/view/14928/30/ Appache on Linux was hacked most often in 2007. Of course, this probably doesn't really have that much to do with windows/linux since the number one attack by far was password theft. |
and there are many more linux servers than windows
|
First off, the numbers are NOT comparisons of how many servers were hacked,
attacked, etc. They are the number of sites where the cracker reported to Zone-H that they defaced the site. None of the millions of Windows zombies controlled by crackers are listed. All the Windows machines being used to send otu spam - not listed because it's not a count of hacked servers, depsite that the title of this thread says. It's just a relatively small group of crackers who like to see who can deface the most sites. Amongst this particular group, some of the more prolific vandals prefer Linux. That tells us something about these few guys. It tells us nothing about any operating systems. |
most of the "internets" is sitting on a linux server

I think 98% of them were on ThePlanet network running Cpanel
(unmanaged, unsecure, unknowing, unprotected, unwise) WTG Planet, I had a server there and it was hacked within the first week as it appears that place is just targetted as they do nothing about it but profit from the poor sucker client who chooses them... I am sorry you got hacked, please pay our techs $150 /h to fix your problem |
