Did Trey (ex-owner) of epic cash sell customer DB to spamers?

So I have one domain that I use with catch all e-mail set up and I use it to sign up with sponsors to check out member area to decide if I want to do rev-shade or per-signup if it looks like crap. So I signed up with Epic Cash with unique e-mail. I get a shit load of spam in that box anyway, so I didn't notice wich e-mail was getting spammed the most. But today I saw that its [email protected] that is getting fucking hammered with 100 e-mails per day with porn spam.

WTF Trey????

Jace 03-14-2008 06:21 PM

probably, would you expect any less?

luckily trey does not own epiccash anymore and is no longer a problem

no shit, but I feel bad for those guys that gave out their real e-mail address. Most do.

i give out my email address to every program, the same email address, and I barely see ANY spam...

there is the awesome thing called SPAM PROTECTION...hell, it is even included in my outlook as part of the software

so, I could care less who they sell or trade my email to, I don't see their spam

jace, u are missing the point. Its not like Im pulling e-mails from it to my outlook, I check it only when I sign up to promote some site Im not sure about, no more.. Its just the fact that since march 3rd (or 6th) that e-mail address has been getting a fuck load of spam, and I only gave it to epic cash.

TheAmericanCannibal 03-14-2008 08:25 PM

I think you are missing the point

email sales and trading is a HUGE bonus for large programs, if you don't like your email being traded or sold, don't give it out

personally I see nothing wrong with it, I assume when I put my email in ANY form on the web, that it is going to be sold and trades 100 times by next week

Dude...its always an inside job.... Remember never put all your eggs in one basket........ Play the odds....You'll do better and outlast the sponsors themselves...I know I have...everybody that post makes less than a few hundred a day...I think Juicy is the only guy that makes a few Gs a day on this board.

Dude.. Do you honestly believe that the spammers in this industry haven't added every possible program name into their database to spam to every domain they find that accepts email???

[email protected] isn't unique at all..

unfortunately you can't control where the emails you sell end up

that is like saying panasonic should be responsible for kiddy porn because they manufactured the camcorder that shot it....bad example, I know, but you get the idea

Jace, I think you are missing his point. As far as I think, he is not complaining about spam, every one of us know how to deal with spam and how to protect our inbox. The shit he is complaining about is bad business practice done by Trey ..

I understand your point about emails are always sold, but if something is done on routinely basis, does it make it less worst? For example, if every program start shaving, should we assume its alright? And should tell someone who is complaining that don't promote any program, because its usual for them to shave?

:2 cents:

loll Jet you about to LOSE ALL your contest moniessss loll i contacting all the contests you in and pulling my BROCARD dont expect to get any contest winnings :pimp

pornguy 03-15-2008 07:06 AM

To my knowledge he did not. But I do know that the way spammers work is crawling sites looking for e-mail addresses, as well as using programs that put together random words and then test to see if they are e-mails or not.

It happens, And spammers sell lists as well.

Emil 03-15-2008 09:52 AM

I'm sure Trey tried to milk as much money as possible out of his program before he sold it.
